let the river run

✴︎  —“ I think it might’ve been around then. Most of my time has been spent in France. It’s hard to just leave what was my original home, I’ve found. Even if the people are different, ” Sutton  nodded. “ Northern Italy is beautiful. I spent longer in Italy in the early 16th century, I believe. But I like to revisit places every so often. ”

“Yeah, I always find myself going back to Florida. It’s like a magnet, really.” Aurora had a lot of bad memories in St. Augustine, but she’d managed to make a lot of great ones there as well. “Me too. It’s amazing to see how the places have changed.”

“You say that now, but you know for a fact that we’re practically nomads,” he replies and flops down next to her on the bed. Rolling his eyes he let out a small laugh, “Like that’s any difference from when we first got together, Rora?” He stares up at the ceiling for a moment in their new place. “It feels kind of weird though doesn’t it? Not being in our own private place or having our own home?” 

“Yeah, well, that’s because you didn’t want to live above the shop and I’m too picky about houses.” She pointed out. The vampire smiled and nodded. “That’s true, you were quite the show off.” Aurora teased. “Yeah, it does. But we’re kind of tucked away, so we should have a bit more privacy, right?”

“Please continue, flattery will get you every where.” Adaliya chuckled softly as she looked back at the vampire who was now sitting opposite her. “I ordered your black coffee, figured it wouldn’t matter if it want a little cold since you guys don’t feel temperature.” 

Aurora laughed. “I thought you were better than that.” She teased the wolf. “Thank you, I appreciate it.” Aurora took it and subtly dropped the two capsules in, grabbing a packet of sugar to help it dissolve better. “How have you been? Find any games you wanted to try?”

“If you can figure out how to do years of my being a hot mess, I’ll stock the house with top-shelf,” Ronnie declared. Of course, it might get easier for her once she unpacked her room. 

“I’ll see what I can do.” She smiled. After a brief pause, Aurora continued. “So, what do you do around here, Ronnie?”

“I’m not bothered by it,” Ronnie responded. If anything, the place looked…lived in. She liked it. “I’m not exactly the cleanest person either. Wigs, clothes, makeup? I get a chance to unpack, they’ll bring in Hoarders.”

“Oh, gosh, maybe we can organize that a bit.” She laughed again. Aurora had seen one too many late-night episodes while Ry was sleeping. If people thought vampires were scary, they should have seen Hoarders.
