They shared an update regarding the death of one of the Green Warriors who had fallen ill from a mystery illness that began with stomach pain which was followed by a nose bleed. Then the diseased warrior vomited blood before passing away. This mystery illness was now causing panic to the village as the gossip spread that it could be the Ebola virus.
The average fatality rate of the Ebola virus is around 50%, this virus has caused occasional outbreaks mostly on the African continent. The spread starts from any touch or direct contact with bodily fluids of a person who has been infected with the Ebola virus. Symptoms usually start to appear anywhere from 2 to 21 days after coming into contact with the virus or an infected, and some of these symptoms include fever, body aches, weakness or fatigue, abdominal pain, and unexplained bleeding.
The fallen Green Warrior experienced most of these symptoms and was brought to the hospital by his father. He was not diagnosed and yet was given Quinine, a medication for Malaria, a disease that they were sure wouldn’t cause blood vomiting. After all, it was rare and uncommon for Malaria to be presented with bleeding.
Their blog also stated that he was buried two days before his funeral since it was the town’s custom. His grave was placed right behind his mother’s hut. Hymns and prayers were done during his funeral as the family and mourners grieved for the loss of their beloved that afternoon.
Unfortunately, the fallen green warrior wasn’t the only victim as several people had also suffered and expired from this mystery illness. With the worst outbreak at 25 kilometers south, the World Health Organization (WHO) visited the village to identify the illness that became the source of several mysterious deaths and the gossip that made the people start to panic. Together with the government, WHO announced that although it wasn’t Ebola, the virus causing their worries remains to be a mystery and deadly.
