tldr: an actual Disney princess tbh. Generally a media darling, super kind to everyone she meets, married to the best man, mother to two wonderful children - she’s got it all. It wasn’t all smooth sailing though when a family tragedy caused a dip in her mental health which she is still conscious of to this day. Started her own foundation four years ago in aid of mental health and has been trying to do some good in the world.
Born to the younger son of the Belgian king and the daughter of a prominent royal family (a wc if anyone would like a cousin!!) she grew up slightly away from the spotlight but there was still plenty of attention on her little family. It didn’t matter though, the three of them were blissfully happy and she grew up happy and vivacious.
When she was eleven her parents were killed in a skiing accident and her whole world shifted. She moved into the palace with her aunt and uncle, surrounded by love and family but she still felt empty and out of place. She lost interest in almost everything and her usual bright smile dimmed until it was barely there.
Once she started getting therapy things started to improve for her. It wasn’t easy and to this day she still has to make a conscious choice not to let herself get lost to the grief all over again. Her grades recovered enough that she earned herself a place at St Andrews (although her surname no doubt helped) and she moved there to study
Started dating Alexandre (heir to the Monegasque throne) in her third year of university, the pair of them gravitating together through a shared experience of dealing with the weight of expectations on their shoulders. It didn’t take all that long for their families to hear about it, despite their best efforts to keep it private, and they came under fond but increasing pressure to get married.
They got engaged about two years into dating and then married when she was 25. Quite quickly afterwards they had their first child: a daughter named Gabriella. Two years later their son Antoine followed.
By the time she was 28 she had her foundation up and running and since then has been raising as much awareness for the importance of mental health. She gives speeches frequently as well as raising money for various causes related to helping those who might need it. It’s not the only charity she lends a hand to but it is the only one baring her name.
Now that her husband has become Sovereign Prince she’s started taking a more active interest in Monegasque politics, helping and advising where she can. She takes her position of Sovereign Princess very seriously but still manages to juggle it with her foundation as well as being a mother to her two children.
