offline the stigma around adhd is like "5 year old boy who can't focus in class and points out squirrels". and online the stigma is like "14 year old who's hyperfixated on mcyts and wears bunny hats and listens to hyperpop". and both of those people absolutely could have adhd. but people don't talk about the negative aspects of having adhd and it's exhausting. the memory loss, hyperfocusing and forgetting to eat or sleep or take care of urself, trouble holding a job or performing well in classes, being able to do those things but only at the expense of your mental health, not being able to do incredibly important tasks, trouble coping with stress (especially the stress caused by your symptoms, which makes the whole thing worse), impulsivity, not being motivated to get things done, the self-esteem problems that come with all of it. man this week i procrastinated on sending an email too long and was withdrawn from my college. my adhd has genuinely fucked up my life so many times and i'm sick of it being seen as like. fun hyperfixation disorder when it's genuinely debilitating
