Briefly, Emil wonders if Anna has decided that he isnāt enough to keep her company. He doesnāt really blame her; most people donāt seem to have the patience to answer all of his questions. He can only imagine how frustrating it may be for someone to try and describe a color to someone whoās never seen it before.
He listens intently to everything that Anna has to say. He thinks of fire, though imagines that it would be rather painful if one were entirely wrapped up in it. But then again, if the fire was around a person, then it wouldnāt burn, only warm.
"It sounds like it," he says with a small nod as Anna finishes.Ā "Iām sure it is."
He blinks under the strips of cloth as someone suddenly grasps his hand. Emil has to quickly remind himself that this must be Anna.Ā "Play? With you?" he asks the girl.Ā "What would you like to play?"
Despite her offer, Anna hadn't had a game in mind. Rather, she'd decided she'd just wanted to have fun with Emil, and she blinks at his question. Her grip slacks a bit, and suddenly she hesitates.Ā
Her idea of fun is just walking around. Being out and looking at everyone, getting to be outside. But maybe Emil doesn't think that's fun.Ā
"..." His hand almost falls entirely out of her grasp, until she confidently squeezes it once more.Ā
"Do you think... just walking with me would be fun?"

Anna misses more than realizes. In her small room, there's more red than anything, and yet greyed out objects are bound to slip under her gaze. If something were to be taken, she's not entirely certain she would notice.
But the addition of something red, even with so much already, never fails to catch her attention. Even something as inconspicuous and insignificant as a red towel. She has it in her hands, feeling the fabric under her fingers and turning it over every which way. She never put this here. And it's too small to really be a towel... it's more like a rag
She wonders if Mikoto or Totsuka put this here. But it's such an odd item...
And then the white haired girl gasps.
Something is weird. She remembers every moment with her parents. Up until the day they left her, through the days they started talking to her less and less, Anna used to cling to what small memories she had as tightly as she could (but she had to make room for Mikoto, so she let her grip loosen). Sitting across from them, crying and telling them she "doesn't want to go back" never happened.
These things she's seeing, they can't be real.
"It's okay Anna... we won't make you go back." She's crying. The fake "her" is crying, and saying things, but Anna can't seem to hold onto her words. The only things that stick are what her "mother" is telling her
"Shh shh, your father and I love you." Slightly shaky arms come to encircle the small girl. Words are murmured into her snowy white hair
"I'm sorry we made you feel like this. You won't have to go back." She's released, and a scarlet napkin is dabbed at her eyes. This was... some kind of tradition. They used red items whenever they could. A napkin just happened to be close by. The woman in this weird scene was wiping her tears away, and then--
She's back. As if she'd blinked for the first time, Anna is once more in her room. What... was that? Those weren't her parents, yet she'd called them "mom" and "dad". She couldn't understand. But her gaze drops to the napkin in her hand, and she knows: it's the same from that vision
However she peers closer, and it's strange. It's wet now. More damp spots start Ā appearing, until they're too blurred to make out. Oh... Her hand goes to her cheek, and it too is wet. Oh... that's right. There had been more to that scene.
The next day, the "mom" and "dad" of that fake Anna died.
So why is she crying? No answer rings in her head. Instead, a foreign record plays. It utilizes her voice, and for a moment, Anna thinks she might have been tricked into thinking it's a thought of her own. But it isn't quite like that. It's too much like another voice is talking to her, like she's hearing someone else when it sounds just like herself. And it repeats over and over.
"I-I... but I really didn't mean to...!" She stares at the broken vase. The red... she'd only wanted to see it closer. Now it's in pieces, splintered all over the floor.Ā
She wonders if it's bad to still think, "It's pretty."
soft kitty warm kitty little ball of fur, happy kitty sleepy kitty purr purr purr {konoe}
She doesn't like to be a bother to Mikoto. If she can help it, Anna doesn't enjoy making extensive requests too often. But an occasional trip to Paralia is one of the few exceptions to this courtesy. The countryside, she's told, is beautiful. Yet alas, green is a color she can't see; from what others have said, the more rural town is riddled with this hue. Rather than its beauty, the appeal the other town lies with the people. A friend of hers, Konoe, calls the nature abundant town his home, although usually she meets him during his stays in Kairos
This time, Anna wants to mix up that routine. She likes to visit him too sometimes, and so here she stands at his front door. Of course she'd called him earlier, so without hesitation the small girl stands on her tiptoes to ring the doorbell.
probably some clever pun of mikan like "me can" but without caveman {mikan}
She's been going to the doctors for years. Anna knows the routine inside and out, and she behaves as mannerly as expected on habit. But her doctor had never been this late to her check up before. A nurse had come in earlier to mention they were behind schedule, but that too had been awhile ago. Swinging her feet idly as she sits, waiting, Anna can only daydream about how much better this dull,Ā sanitized room would be with even a just a spot of red in it.
Her patience outlasts that of most twelve year olds, she thinks. But even Anna has a limit, and soon thoughts like "I'm bored," and "What is there to do?" start invading her mind. She hops out of her seat, and approaches the door to the hallway. Her pale hand hovers over the knob, before quickly grasping it and peeking her head outside. There's no one around. If she just goes for a quick walk, no one should mind...
Gently closing the door behind her with a soft click, the white haired girl takes cautionary steps down the corridor. She won't be gone long, she tells herself, as she wanders further and further from her designated waiting area. Even as she gets closer to the populated sections of the hospital, everyone seems too busy to notice the lone girl right away. Anna stays as inconspicuous as she can, but not without taking in her surroundings with awe. People rushing back and forth, working and chatting, it's as if she's watching moving parts of a machine keep up its function. It's... fascinating
So much so, in fact, that she doesn't notice when one actually happens to notice her being out of place.

Kind of the same? Emil has never met anyone colorblind until today. Sometimes, he wonders what itās like, seeing the world in black, white, and gray. He doesnāt really know what those words mean though, considering the fact that heās never seen them before.Ā "You can only see the color red?" he asks, tilting his head slightly to the side.
And then, he asks,Ā "Whatās it like? The color red?" Heās heard about it before, how itās the color of love and the first color in a band of the rainbow, but he wants to know how this girl who can only see red will describe it.
"Oh, my nameās Emil. Itās nice to meet you, Anna."
Anna has a thousand words to describe the color red, and yet at the same time none at all. "Pretty" is how it usually comes out. But somehow, just a single word doesn't seem adequate to describe to a boy who's never seen it before. Red is many things, so many that she can't decide what would be the best to call it. She grows silent.
"Red is... warm," she begins. "It's bright against the rest of the world." She's unsure of how to continue, until a person enters her mind. Even without being here, he's still helping her it seems. She looks up wistfully. "It could burn you, but if you're wrapped up in it, then its heat can only protect." Mikoto, she thinks, is exactly like this. "...it's beautiful," she finishes.
But the boy's introduction then takes priority, and Anna nods habitually despite acknowledging he can't see it. "Emil." She tests the name on her tongue carefully. Then she hesitates, before grasping his hand. "Do you want to play with me?"
Kaworu is probably better with kids than he is with others around his age or older. Theyāre often easily entertained and donāt find him too odd. The younger kids in his foster home like him well enough and they usually help take care of Aesop too. Thatās probably why the dog takes so well to the little girl despite her being a stranger. Really, the teen only bothers to go over there because of the fact that the girl is alone, but he finds that more interesting than odd.
At the comment, Kaworu blinks mild surprise on his face lasting for a few seconds before a smile takes its place. āI suppose he does look a bit like me. People have told me that before, I think I just might believe them.ā The teen shrugs his shoulders, hand reaching to thread his fingers through his hair. He always had bedhead upon waking up, so all he really did was take a brush to it and it always ending up like this. People sometimes thought he did style it just so on purpose and where surprised when there was no sign of products in his hair.
The girlās voice draws his attention towards her again and lets out a slight hum for no reason besides the fact that he wasnāt paying her full attention. āYou can pet. His breed of dog rarely gets angry and heās fairly used to kids already.ā
While the younger is preoccupied with the canine, Kaworu lowers himself on the grass. Knees drawn to his chest while one hand is used to steady himself, and the other taps a piano scale into the earth, he watches his pup soak up the attention.Ā
āHis name is Aesop if you were wondering, and Iām Kaworu Nagisa. You donāt have to give your name if you donāt want to, I am just a stranger with a cute dog after all.ā
At the first words of permission, Anna immediately reaches out a tentative hand. Her ears are half listening, laws of etiquette such as paying attention as someone is speaking dictating her partial attention, but her childish mind is far too easily entertained to give full acknowledgement to anything other than the puppy before her. Slowly lowering her fingers, and then her palm to the snowy dog's head, she pats his head gently. Her muscles ease into the action, and soon she's scratching behind his ears while his tag wags energetically behind him
The young girl regards the owner once more as he speaks up again, no longer standing but at her level instead. Aesop... and Kaworu Nagisa. Anna doesn't think twice about introducing herself in return, lips parted to speak her own name, until Nagisa points out the issue. Ah... she shouldn't be so willing to give her name out to strangers. But he seems nice, and as her red eyes drop down to the hand rhythmically stroking Aesop's head, she decides to go through with her original plan anyways
"My name is Anna. If it's only my first name, there's no trouble." Her logic is simple. Her given name is common, and even if he manages to track down her surname... well her parents abandoned her a long time ago. Something like family records couldn't help a stranger, assumingly. Anna doesn't fully understand, but she feels this would be the safest route if any.
Then suddenly she stops petting the dog. Her eyes lock with Nagisa's, and she notices something she hadn't clearly seen before.
"Your eyes are pretty." A pretty red, and the only two shining bits of color she can see on his entire figure. From afar they'd been difficult to distinguish with a moment's glimpse, but now much closer, they're clear as day. A shame she hadn't noticed sooner.
Grocery shopping is usually done by Totsuka. Anna often accompanies him, but never has she gone on her own before. Until now, that is.Ā
The last few trips theyād taken, one thing had never failed to catch her eye. The cute, fluffy mascot standing outside the store that waved as people passed by caught her interest immediately. Sheād never displayed her interest beyond an extended glance over her shoulder as she passed by, mostly because she hadnāt wanted to interrupt the important errand, but now⦠sheād finally step up and confront the costume.
The grocery store is a bit of a walk from their house. It may take longer than her usual outings, and with that in mind, the white haired girl backtracks from the door to grab a piece of paper and a pen. Scribbling a note, saying in a few words that sheās at the grocery store, she places it in the most conspicuous spot she can think of (the kitchen table). Preparations complete, she hopes the doggie is outside today.
Blocks away, after a few left and right turns, the food market is in sight. A dot in the distance, it grows bigger and bigger with each passing step, and sure enough the creamy colored dog is standing outside as usually is. The pitter patter of her small shoes against the concrete picks up pace, and Anna reaches her destination in no time. Her breathing is only slightly quickened, but with the time she uses to allow it to even out, the young girl realizes one crucial miscalculation.Ā
She hadnāt⦠planned what to say.Ā
Her gaze travels upwards to the cartoony face of the costume, and she blinks.Ā
In the outfit, this was what Shiro got paid for. Bouncing around trying to get people to enter the grocery store and buy a few things. Clapping his overly giant paws together and doing a little spin, he was having fun and that was all that mattered. It was a side job and he promised people that he would find a much better job. But there was always people he came to enjoy when dressed in the outfit. Finding people who were willing to smile because they thought the outfit was ridiculously cute. It wasnāt so hot out and his parasol sat against the inside of the store where he could go get it if something was to happen.
This being one of them, when he noticed someone had walked up to him and called out the name of origin his costume was to represent, Shiro gave a smile inside of out the outfit. He knew them very well so nothing bad would happen, the male kneeling down in the outfit making sure that they were mask to face. Hopefully she didnāt come all this way just to say hello to him, the male booping the nose of the mask against Annaās forehead as if reenacting a small kiss.
Contemplating what he could do next, he was always a thrill with all the children, holding out his paws to grab her hands. Now if anyone didnāt know any better, they would have thought the mask wearer was just too familiar with people who came up to say āhiā to him, but in that moment, the sounds of laughter came from inside of the mask as he was enjoying the little playing around he was able to do. Moments had he picked up the mask off of his head, giving eyes to see who was inside before slightly placing it on the youngerās head.
"Hello Miss Dog! Did you come to relieve me of my spot?" He played around, holding the object up a lil bit if she had protested for him to remove it if it blocked her vision or if she didnāt enjoy having it on her head.
Mr. Dog is black and white, a dull mesh of grays, but unlike many things Anna thinks it's okay if he doesn't have red; he's still cute and fluffy. Wide, child-like eyes stare in awe as the mascot kneels down, and bumps her forehead with its nose. She flinches slightly at the sudden contact, but on nothing more than a reflex.
She allows furry paws to grasp her hands, limp with surprise and wonder, and blinks slowly. She had expected the mascot to be friendly, as that's surely what the job entailed, but this open hadn't been her assumption. The sense that she's met this dog before crosses her mind, but she doesn't consider it seriously until she hears a laugh ring from within the costume.Ā
"Mr. Dog...?" She thinks she knows that laugh. And then the mask is lifted off his face, and the face of the light haired boy within immediately registers in her memory.Ā
"Shiro...!" she exclaims with sudden realization, right before the dog head is plopped over her vision. Anna stumbles, and regains her footing before attempting to speak once more.Ā
"'Miss Dog'... do you need help?" Her voice reverberates softly within the rather spacious top, and keeping it steady on her shoulders with her own hands, she awkwardly waddles to what she hopes is her friend's side.Ā
"I'll be the head, and you can be the body."Ā She's never been a mascot before, but she's ready to try.
The Angel KissĀ This kiss involves kissing someone gently on the eyelids or on a spot near the eyes using the lips. This type of kiss indicates deep affection and is mostly used when saying goodbye to someone or when waking up a loved one.
She hadn't meant to knock into anyone. But Anna had gotten caught up in admiring a display of red jewelry, and she'd wanted to hurry home as fast as she could. Causing Tatara and Mikoto unnecessary worry doesn't sit well with her, and in her haste, the red clad child couldn't stop herself from colliding with a poor fellow that walked in the wrong spot at the wrong time.Ā
Both her and the boy she'd run into fell to the ground, but Anna had no time to spare.Ā
"I'm sorry!" To make up for her lack of proper apology, she quickly plants a gentle kiss on his temple, before jumping to her feet and scampering off.Ā

The Forehead KissĀ The forehead kiss usually means that you are just friends. Depending on how it is planted, it can also be used as a means of showing deep affection to a loved one. Most people use use it as a starter kiss when they meet someone new, to express that they like them.
Petunias, daisies, and buttercups, the pair of silver haired friends were surrounded by colorful blossoms of all types and hues. Even if she couldn't see all the shades, the reds dotted here and there were just as beautiful. A trip to Paralia, and a visit to a grassy field brought them here, and currently they thought they'd try their hands at weaving flower crowns.Ā
Anna had no experience in such a thing though. Various types of flowers are laid out before her, and taking them into her hands, she watched Shiro as he weaved them together. He went slow for her, but somehow hers just didn't turn out quite like his. Pursing her lips, the young girl didn't give up.Ā
Shiro offered her assistance occasionally, and corrected her method every once and awhile, but she wanted to do this on her own. Despite the frustration building up in her eyes, the slow but steady form of a ring in her lap drove her forward.Ā
"...and then you connect them like this... and you're done!" Anna observes his conclusion to the project, and does her best to match. She takes a final scarlet daisy, and with tiny fingers connects the ends of the crown together.Ā
She looks to Shiro's.
Then back to hers.Ā
"They don't look the same..." Her hands drop to the finished product in her lap, and she takes hold of it almost self-consciously. Shiro took all that time to show her, and this is what she finishes with. And she'd worked hard too...
Then, without warning, a circular object brushes against the top of her head. Red eyes widen and look up to the smiling face of her companion. She reaches up absentmindedly to her hair, and her fingertips brush soft petals.Ā
"That's okay! That just means Anna's flower crown is one of a kind!" He flashes her another grin, and she's stuck in momentary stupor before hastily picking up her own crown.
"Then Shiro canā!" Can have hers.Ā Except in her fluster, the fragile flower ring's bonds give way, and halfway raised in the air it completely collapses. Only a single red blossom remains in her hand. Anna stares in shock, lips parted in words unspoken, and she can feel her throat tightening.
"Iā I'm sorry..." Now she can't even return the favor. But instead of being disappointed, Shiro only laughs. He takes the flower left in her grasp, and he doesn't hesitate tucking it behind his ear.Ā
"It's alright, this is good too, so cheer up!" He makes a funny face, and poses with a hand behind his head. "How do I look?" Anna blinks, and then a smile slowly spreads on her face.Ā
"Pretty!" And their day continues with grins and laughter, until the sun begins to sink lower and lower in the sky.Ā
"I had fun today," she says as they're walking through the field, back towards the train station.Ā
"Really? I'm glad." They're just about to enter the more populated town when Anna tugs on her friend's sleeve. The male pauses, and swiftly Anna gets on her tiptoes and pulls him down to place a chaste kiss on his forehead.Ā

Seeming like a person not ideal for pets, (he had a vague dislike of cats despite appearing like a person that would own one or two when getting older) it was an odd request for Kaworu to want a dog. He could blame a sudden whim of wantĀ and curiosity that possessed him when asking for a canine companion, but once ruling all the factors and deeming him responsible enough, a dog was just what he received. Why he chose a Samoyed of all breeds is still something people try to figure out, family jokes that he only got it because it looked like him. The dog is taken care of by the family as a whole for the most part; Kaworu being the one solely in charge of the pupās training and naming. Despite having more energy than the five year old in the house, he is fairly easy to train, already coming when called and knowing a few basic tricks and that the potted plants are not appropriate places to relieve oneself on.
Walks are taken daily while trip to the parks are weekly at the most, done when Kaworu has time on the weekend to spend playing. Today is such a day, itās nice out and more than a few people are out enjoying the weather. He doesnāt mind that Aesop spends the majority of the walk trying hard to pull the teen along via the red leash attached to a matching collar. As of now, he is still too small to actually start dragging anyone along.
Once the park is reached, leash is unhooked from collar and tiny mass of white fur goes off in some direction, probably chasing a squirrel. The male has no immediate worry about the pup getting lost since an identification tag hangs from the collar. Besides, stark white coloration is noticeably quite hard to miss in the first place.
Gaze momentarily ceases tracking the animal, eyes believing that something interesting was seen. A trick due to the sunlight however, the teen turns his attention back to his pet, noting with slight amusement that the pup had found interest in a young girl.
Strides are taken towards child and dog, distance quickly closed. āIām sorry, I hope he isnāt bothering you. Heās more friendly and curious than anything though, I promise.ā tone light and friendly, not wanting to alarm the younger by his sudden appearance. She probably wasnāt even supposed to be talking to strangers in the first place.
Anna doesn't come to the park to play. Unlike the children her age, running around isn't her particular forte. Rather, the young girl finds contentment in mere watching other park goers enjoy themselves. There's a circulation of people constantly moving in and out, and while this sort of people watching comes off as boring to some, Anna thinks it suits her just fine. People are interesting, and watching them from her lone bench is... enjoyable.
Red eyes follow the masses of children and adults, focused in a way that makes her unaware of the scamper of paws in her direction. Not until she feels a nudge at her feet does Anna notice the ball of fluff excitedly hopping around. She leans forward, and her first instinct is to pet its head as one usually does. That is, until she spots the collar around his neck, and her outstretched hand hesitates in mid air.
Ah... maybe it's not okay with the owner if she pets this dog. In the back of her mind, the voice of her parents rings like an echo in her head. You don't pet a dog if you don't have permission, it's impolite and there might be something wrong with doing so.
"You're very cute..." she says anyways, watching the tiny dog wiggle as if bursting with too much energy. The voice that soon comes up to her draws her attention away, and it only takes a moment to realize he's the owner.
"It's okay, he isn't bothering me at all." She hops off the bench, and brushes off her dress. Then she kneels down to the puppy's eye level. "He looks like you," she comments idly. The fuzzy dog fur and this guy's hair are similar in fluff-level, from her perspective. Head tilting upwards, Anna gazes looks towards the teen inquisitively.
Heās relieved that the girl isnāt hurt. Emil doesnāt really know what heād do with himself if he ever learned that some form of harm had chanced upon a person because of something that he did. So he gives Anna a small nod before tilting his head slightly at her (in the back of his head, he wonders how old she is; she canāt be much older than him).
"You mean this?" he asks, raising a hand to gently touch the wrappings over his eyes.Ā "Oh, um, my eyes are very sensitive to the light. But itās okay; I canāt see anything out of them anyways."
It isnāt often that people ask him about why he keeps his eyes blocked. Most would choose only to eye them curiously without saying anything, which usually just resulted in him feeling uncomfortable and self-conscious about himself.
She blinks. Ah, that makes sense. Anna's hands drop to her side, and peers closer at the boy. He's blind. She's never met someone like this before, but surely they're no different from other people. Her expression grows thoughtful.
"I'm kind of the same." Her condition isn't as severe, but there's some similarity. "I can only see the color red..." She won't claim to understand what it's like not to see at all, but she figures she can relate even a little bit. It's more comfortableĀ
The Eskimo KissĀ It is commonly used by children and parents as an indication of affection. It involves rubbing your nose against your loved nose back and forth.
Tatara and Anna have something like a tradition. Almost weekly Mikoto is jailed, and their routine centers around this common occurrence. For when he's released without fail in a few days, they're waiting at the station all ready to pick him up. There's no doubt he could walk home on his own with no trouble at all, but both her and Tatara agreed that that would be far too lonely. They made a pact between each other and to their friend to always wait for him, and while he'd only grunted at the time, Anna like to think he was okay with it.
Now, however, is such a time where her blond companion couldn't be reached to accompany her to the station. But that's okay, as long as one of them makes it to greet Mikoto the promise still stands.Ā
Maybe it's best she's alone this time too. Recently Anna's noticed something during her frequent visits. While sitting in a chair at the entrance, she always has at least a few minutes to spare when waiting for Mikoto. She takes this time to watch the officers go about their days, and one particular policeman had begun to catch her eye. He has glasses and weird hair, and she'd just last week found out his name is Fushimi. It appears he has absolutely no friends.Ā
"Aren't you lonely?" She couldn't imagine how he couldn't be.Ā
"I prefer it this way," was the weird response she got. Little exchanges here and there, that was the extent of their communication, but still. He was intriguing. This week, Anna had resolved to sit next to him in the time she had before Mikoto emerged from his cell.Ā
Successfully spotting him on a bench, the white haired girl promptly sits herself next to him. She doesn't go out of her way to make eye contact, and he spares her a questioning glance before turning away as well. They sit in silence.Ā
"What are you doing?" he finally asks, cutting through the odd sort of tension. Anna blinks.
"I'm waiting for Mikoto." He opens his mouth as if to pursue the topic further, but his lips clamp shut at the last second and he thrusts his face away instead. Before the wait of stillness can settle again, Anna follows up with the conversation.
"Officer Fushimi, are you unhappy?" The look he shoots her is some kind of cross between confused and disgusted.Ā
"Does it matter?" Red irises slide in his direction, and in a heartbeat she continues on, ignoring his question.
"You don't seem happy." She's never once seem him in a friendly conversation. He talks business and orders with his fellow officers, but Anna doesn't recall ever seeing him laugh, or even smile. Considering how often Mikoto winds up here, it's an impressive feat.
"Hmph. Why do you care..." he grumbles, his voice trailing off as if he weren't asking a question at all. For several moments, Anna has no answer. Theoretically, she supposes there isn't much basis for her concern. She hardly knows him, and he her. In fact, they may as well be complete strangers if not for the few words spared between them in sparse interactions.Ā
The young girl looks at her toes. And then up.Ā
Ah, Mikoto's here. Rising from her seat, she takes a single step before stopping. She looks over her shoulder.
"I know what it's like to be lonely." It's much different waiting for Mikoto to come out than waiting for her parents to pick her up after all. Mikoto always returns. Fushimi hesitates, and just when she's about to leave, Anna makes a split-second decision. In a hasty step towards the older male, sitting he's luckily just her height. She braces her tiny hands on his shoulders, and rubs her nose against his for all of a few seconds.Ā
"Be happy." Then she scampers off towards the red giant across the room.
"What was that for?" His voice doesn't betray any care, but Mikoto eyes her curiously.
