Jane: So, I know we talked about this before, and please let me know if this is something thatâs inappropriate, but you didnât give me a straight answer last time so I am asking again. You never killed anyone on the Isle, right?
Carlos: What are you, a cop? Mind you business.
I think itâs really funny how some of yall want to blame Mal or Uma or any other VK for not taking proper care of younger Isle kids BEFORE you would blame their parents or the system that put them there
Our expectations on adults in Descendants universe were that low we doesnât even remember they might exists all along. Sad.
TBF, they are truly GARBAGE parents.
The people Iâd blame for not taking care of the VKs are
A) Their parents. This cannot be stated enough.
B) Adam and Ben. They are the FUCKING KINGS. It is ENTIRELY their fault for letting this bullshit stand.
Yes, I have issues with the Core Fourâs ideas for VK Day but letâs keep some perspective here.
Yeah, VK Day was a biggest mess of messed up the VKs has ever done but what an actual mess was nobody had pointed out the problem with treating infants of villains deserved a right to live out of the prison before Ben did after 20 years later...The system of Auradon and adults who made them...
Plus, well, even with VK day, if Ben had a problem with only taking four more kids and only doing it by application process, again, HE IS THE FUCKING KING. He can put his foot down at any time and say âNo, Iâm taking those kids off the Isle NOW.â
The way Benâs still treated like a intern after at least one year of ruling the entire kingdoms by himself while parents were on trip...Beast and Belle were immediately back into the center of politics even though they never were there to help Ben ruling since the coronation.
Also - of course Ben couldnât make a decision different from Mal, who wanted VK Day to happen. This is after D2, where heâd seen evidence twice that everyone including his own parents would rush to take Malâs side against him if he ever did anything wrong or made a choice *she* didnât like.Â
He canât make a choice because, just as we see in the âdecision to close the barrierâ scene, he gets pressured to change it, or is overruled. How dare anyone but Mal get to make the important choices.Â
Aaaaaaa im gonna go insane
I gotta say I have adhd so if some the sentences make little sense Iâm sorry I did not notice that
Ok ok so... This is almost exactly the opposite of what I was trying to say. I didnât expect this post to blow up, or I would be more precise with my words. (My followers already know that I love Mal and I will not tolerate people calling her the real villain of the series or anything like that)
Ok, first off, what I meant to say. What I actually wanted to say is that I dislike the way people criticise Mal/Evie/Uma for stuff like letting Dizzy get robbed or something along those lines. NOT talking about VK day (I only take like 2 things from d3 and the rest is garbage imo) Their parents are to blame for making them antagonistic towards each other and for making school geared to make kids as âproperly evilâ as they wanted. And Auradonâs system is to blame for making them live in a prison with limited resources, where only the strongest get what they need. Both of those factors make people want to group together approximately according to their threat level or whatever and ignore everyone else. (I also saw a post saying smth about Mal ruling through fear which ew but also motivated me.)
Now, for this discussion I accidentally started. I need all of you to understand that 1) this is a DCOM they did NOT put a lot of thought into world building so putting in your dark and grim headcanons or even canon from the books into the movie will skew the reality presented there; 2) everything that happens in the movies is for the plot, itâs not real, characters do not have autonomy or a stone set moral code, some of their actions are for the plot, some are for comedic effect and only what is left are our actual characters.
Ben is NOT to be blamed, he was sixteen in the first instalment and just about to be crowned king. His FIRST decision was to help the VKs.
Why did most of people think that VK day is 4 kids a YEAR? Right after Good to be Bad Mal and Evie home about being on the Isle so much people will get sick of them. I always read that as VK day being a monthly event, which is logical. Itâs obviously a culture shock to go from one to another, so they take a small number of kids so that everyone has personal attention when they first transfer.
It should NOT be the VKs responsibility to bring over the others. Full stop. They might FEEL responsible to them but they donât have to. It was Auradonâs responsibility to never let them grow up there.
If it was useful to the writers, they would have had all the VKs in Auradon by the second movie. Everything that happened in was for the plot. I donât know what issues were there that stopped that from happening but Iâm guessing budgeting and not having a franchise bible (because they didnât expect for it to take off).
Donât make Mal and Bens relationship abusive wtf and donât make Mal the bad guy on my posts lmao

Ship: Rotten OT4 and the word is Hands?
chanting ot4 ot4 ot4
⢠You know that meme about whoâs the thermodynamic sink and whoâs the source in a relationship? Mal is the sink in 100% of the cases. Sheâs the daughter of the god of Underworld, not much warmth to begin with. But her hands are straight up icy. She thinks itâs very funny to sneak up on her partners and wrap her hands around their necks. (Jay and Evie are never not startled.)
⢠Jay, however is always the source of heat. He is made of fire, heâs a djinn. When they came to Auradon and learned to be affectionate with each order (like how you can hold hands just because and a fight is NOT the only reason to touch), he had to stop wearing so many rings because they would heat up too much. Yes, he absolutely does heat up random shit for Câs projects.
⢠Evie absolutely adores it when Mal plays with her hair. Cold fingers cool her head down. Mal know exactly where to scratch and where to stroke. Eâs on cloud nine when Mal starts rubbing little circles.
⢠Thereâs a rule that Carlos MUST remove his gloves and wash his hands before he can get into the cuddle pile. There were way too many incidents involving motors oil, grease, and Dudeâs drool on girlsâ sheets.
⢠Because Evie and Carlos are sweet and cheesy like that, they hold their hands when they kiss, weaving their fingers together. Itâs quite an image: her hand with glitter from her last project under her perfectly manicured glossy red polish, and his, with pen smudges and bitten nails.

mal/carlos moments in descendants 1&2 ( requested by @ultramalostrash )
fairytales for children with souls | part 4 of 4 (part 1) (part 2) (part 3)
carlos is afraid of two things, and two things only. dogs, and his mother. everything else fails to impress him.
carlosâ fear is not debilitating. he does not shake or cry and vomit like the people in the books. when he is afraid, the whole world turns to static, like thereâs cotton in his ears and fog in his brain. he does not feel his gut churn or his stomach turn or his heart rabbit in his chest. he feels absolutely nothing at all.Â
he is not, like his peers think, afraid of violence or death or pain. carlos is not afraid of the villains bigger and older than him. he is perfectly willing to fight for his food- and he does, scratching and biting and pulling out his switchblade and stabbing for his food because he had a whole family to feed, not just himself. he cooks for cruella, for henry and jace, and for horace and jasper, who spend the meal whining and whining that if cruella hadnât gotten them caught, they wouldnât be stuck on the âshit streets of this cesspit of a jail.â, and carlos always thinks to himself, viciously, that he wished those dogs had ripped out their throats, bitten their tongues off, because then he wouldnât have to listen to them whine.
(he does not voice this thought.)

#this some gay activity right here
Hey, who remembers that time that Jay attempted to STEAL A FUCKING METAL VASE IN THE MIDDLE OF A CROWD OF PEOPLE WITH THE OBNOXIOUS FLOWERS STILL IN IT and Carlos was just like âbitch donât even try.â
The true fear in all of their eyes at maleficent Im not all memes btw
Their body language here is so interesting. Iâve noticed from studying other scenes that Evie often puts her hands in her hips to intimidate people, such as in this scene at lunch with Audrey and Jane:
Honestly, if looks could kill lmao.
Anyway, in this case, I donât think sheâs trying to intimidate Maleficent (her face shows too much wariness, though not without accompanying disdain). Thereâs also the fact that her head is turned slightly so sheâs not looking Maleficent dead in the eye. Sheâs standing her ground, but very carefully.
(Notice that in the seconds just before OPâs screenshot, Evie glances at Jay. This is another tell of wariness, maybe even an attempt at self-soothing insofar as itâs an opportunity for Jay to catch her eye and smile at her, assuring her theyâre fine. But note that he doesnât do that. Neither his nor Carlosâ eyes ever leave Maleficent, so Evie is quick to look back at her, as well.)
Meanwhile, Carlosâ open body language and seemingly nervous stare suggest a certain level of naivete compared to the others, but I feel like thatâs a purposeful projection. He wants to appear non-threatening. If you actually look at his eyes, thereâs a hardness there. Heâs likely emboldened by the fact that heâs with the gang, plus Jayâs hand on his arm is a firm reminder that heâs under guard.
Jayâs expression is quite intriguing. I donât know if I detect any fear there? His lip is curled and heâs turned sideways to show the bulk of his arm, so although heâs not facing Maleficent head-on (which would be a more aggressive stance), heâs very much giving off warning vibes. His hand on Carlosâ arm reads as both an assurance of protection and a silent warning that Carlos should stay back if things escalate.
Itâs also interesting how theyâre all huddled together, but Jayâs just slightly apart and angled a step ahead. Heâs ready to jump in front of them if he needs to.
What really speaks to the power Maleficent commands, though, is the fact that none of them are particularly concerned with whatâs going on behind them, even when it becomes obvious that Maleficentâs henchmen are encroachingâŚ
They do break apart (likely to avoid being corralled as easily), and Jay spares a glance over his shoulder as one of the henchmen moves behind them. But look where his eyes go even with several enemies now behind and the others. Right back to Maleficent. Heâs watching her for cues. He knows sheâs the real danger.
Final fun fact that honestly just kind of amuses me about this scene:
Itâs easier to see if you watch it, but I think you can tell from this screenshot. Evie and Carlos are immediately seized by the henchmen behind them; for some reason, though, Jayâs assigned âguardâ doesnât lift a finger until Jay throws himself at him? Literally, Jayâs just standing there for a second while the others are flailing.
I interpret this one of two ways: 1) Henchman #3 is slow on the uptake (so hard to get good help these days and all). 2) These guys have watched Mal grow up. Sheâs been allied with Jay the longest. It could be that Maleficent has told them she suspects the other two are a flight risk, but not Jay. Heâs been at Malâs side too long. She might think Mal has him better âtrainedâ than the others.
Anyway, thank you for coming to my spontaneous TedTalk on this scene lmao.

Since Auradon has social media and royals are basically treated the way we treat celebrities plz picture Ben reading peopleâs thirst tweets
hc that evie while simultaneously really good at fashion as is canon, cannot help herself insulting bad fashion. she literally cannot hold herself back. she gets herself into multiple political scandals doing this
evie: hi mrs. rose!!:) what a beautiful dress youâre wearing
aurora: thank you miss grimhilde. and you.
evie: ahaha thank you. but thereâs something Iâve always wanted to ask you?
aurora: of course. what is it?
evie: why in the HELL did you pick pink for your dress. pink on red on blonde is NOT a good look there is absolutely NO color contrast I donât CARE if you prefer it itâs objectively awful looking and-
evie: hey, lonnie, weâre friends, right?
lonnie: yes, of course, you know i love you. did something happen?
evie: what? no, itâs not that.
lonnie: then what is it?
evie: friends are supposed to be honest with each other, arenât they? i have something iâve been meaning to tell you.
lonnie: iâm listening...
evie: you need to fire your stylist. like i donât know who they are but they obviously hate you. WHY would they put you in these fusion outfits that are obviously not working? also, the colours... fuchsia and teal tied with a black leather basque? i almost didnât talk to you on parents day. donât even get me started on the accessories! did you decide on them? WHY? they are so bad they do NOT go with the theme at all and theyâre giving me MORE crashing colours, oh my god, i was LIVID when i saw them-
Mal calls her father âHadesâ, because she had spent so much time thinking she was purely her motherâs creation, that the human man was just a biological need, that she never can quite get that around her head. Her father is a god and that means her faults are her own. Her faults donât come from the human blood in her veins but from her own weakness. She doesnât like the thought, so she keeps the reminder far away and calls him by his name.
Evie doesnât know her father. Mommy doesnât like to talk about him so even if Evie wanted to find him, she has precious little to go on. He must have been tall and handsome enough, and thatâs about it. But Evie doesnât really want to know him, because like Mommy told her, men donât have parental instincts and are only useful for status. Sheâs already a princess, though.
Carlos has some theories on who his father is. Obviously, it wasnât Ella who told him, but there are only so many stylish white men whoâd come near Cruella on the Isle. In his head, he just calls them options, 1 through 4, ranked by probability. He never approaches them, because why would he? To give some stranger power over him?
Jay calls his father âBabaâ, just like his mom taught him. He doesnât think either of them like it. It reminds Jay every day of the language heâs supposed to know, of the words just on the tip of his tongue, in the back of his brain, but he canât say them. It reminds Jafar of the fact that he has a son. But habits are tough to break, so âBabaâ it is.
Mal calls Maleficent âMotherâ, as if itâs a title. She says it the same way a peasant says âYour majestyâ, a student says âProfessorâ, a soldier says âGeneralâ. She distances herself from and submits herself to her Mother.
Evie calls the Evil Queen âMommyâ, as if itâs a plea. She says it and hopes Grimhilde hears the message âPlease look after me. Please stop yelling and stroke my hair. Please let me relax around youâ. She pleads and hopes and pleads and hopes.
Carlos calls Cruella by her name, âEllaâ, as if itâs a reminder. He calls her that and wishes it could prompt her to remember that she is human (and he is, too), that she was a person before all this. He knocks on the walls of her memory, and wishes she would answer. He wishes but doesnât hope.
Jay doesnât know what he would call his mom. He does not to think of her, doesnât think of her gentle touch and calming voice, her jingling bracelets and flowing skirts. He doesnât think of her. He doesnât.
@hersilentlanguage marry me
ok but fr i wanted each word to have a meaning and to explore their relationship dynamics in a short text, iâm so glad it came through!!
exclusive: actually i just started to write some baseline notes for the core four and their parents but then i realised that wait⌠this could be something⌠iâm writing the dadâs addition rn
@lsleofthelostâ đ đđ jkdjsakjgdlkjgdlk
It DEFINITELY came through. I started reading this and then I had to start reading it again because I was like âOHâŚ. ohâŚ. I am not emotionally prepared for thisâ but then I wasnât prepared for it anyway but thatâs okay because I love being destroyed by text. Itâs actually favourite thing. Writers who can make me feel the Emotions may have my heart, soul, AND hand in marriage any day.
So basically you were like âIâm gonna write some notes. Oh god, wait, thatâs a masterpieceâ jkdlsajklgjdkslg. TRUE GENIUS. ALSO I am super excited for the dadâs addition!! Literally this was like a poem so I canât wait to read the next one. <3
can i add?
Mal says mother like a title because thats what she sees it as, shes not a daughter sheâs a pawn in a very large plan, shes not her mother, shes the ruler of the isle, of which she is only a citizen, being half human makes her lesser than her mother and therwfore she is her superior so she addresses her that way
Evie says mommy because she is so sheltered that rwally despite her bad parenting her mother was all she had, her inclosed enviroment never allowed her to grow so she didn'tz at least not fully
Carlos calls her cruella because while being a human she is the farthest thing you could get from a mother, calling her it seems foreign and dangerous
jay never speaks about his mother, because he doeant have one, not anymore. Everytime she creeps in he numbs the thought, but sometimes he lifts bracelets and jewellery thinking he has done so because of the value they might have but he often overlooks the real valuables for ones that give even a sliver of a reminder of his mother, not enough to hurt but enough to feel something
ok so when the rotten four inevitably get in trouble in school (like getting caught after curfew), i think Carlos is the one lying their way out of it. because Mal literally always wears her emotions on her face, sheâs never really had to lie on the Isle and i think she never learned how to do it convincingly; Jay would have to be physically restrained, that mf would admit it all AND be smug about it; and Evie is too unpredictable in those situations, she might start fighting or she might start sobbing. Carlos however can keep his composure, make up a lie on the spot and he has the best innocent face.
wait i want to expand on this, like what theyâd do if they were caught alone
so Mal technically can lie but sheâs better with manipulating. that is a type of lying, after all, though it relies on subtlety and gently moving someone in the direction you want them to go in. itâs not really useful when youâre caught breaking the rules red handed. but if she is in that situation, i think sheâd pull a âoh gods, i didnât know about this rule. itâs, ah, itâs just that there are so many here, and and we never had to worry about them on the Isle... your rules and customs and everything is so complicated here but iâm really trying so hard and itâs so much all at once and- and-â just push on being unused to it and maybe make the adult feel a little guilty. but sheâs just really doesnât want a detention.
Jay really dislikes the concept of rules and so he absolutely doesnât care for being caught breaking them. he doesnât mind detention, even. but coach warned him about the possibility of getting removed from the team, put on academic probation, something like that. Jayâs weapon of choice is his charm. he starts talking with the teacher and they start chatting away so much so they forget that the convo started with them reprimanding Jay.
Evie... she can lie and she can play a scripted role exceptionally well. however, sheâs terrible on the spot. usually, she can analyse the situation before she has to do anything and prepare herself. Evie hates not doing something right and she hates the shame of being caught even more. it makes her panic and that can go two ways. sheâll either start spiralling and crying or she will get aggressive. no matter the outcome, the entire time her rational brain is regretting it. the teacher would probably end up sending her to the counsellor instead of detention.
with Carlos, he definitely keeps a cool head in stressful situations. he knows practically all the teachers and what to say to them, which buttons to push and he can make up a story in 5 seconds. add the puppy eyes to this and heâll be let off with a âjust donât do it again, alright?â

some of yalls headcanons are so painfully white, i gotta step in
⢠Aziz carries a bottle of hot sauce with him because the hot sauce at the cafeteria is barely mild by his standards
⢠He sees Jay drown his rice in the cafeteria one though, so he talks Jay into trying his one day and Jay is hooked
