✧ augustine came out a disappointment to her father (augustus); the third child was supposed to be another boy, another spare. except, they got this blonde, little bundle of joy. in two centuries, she was the first born girl - half the yaxley family thought of her as an abomination and half rejoiced in the birth of a girl. ophelia yaxley, after she had gone through 32-hours of labour, offered in reconciliation for having a girl, that their daughter was named after augustus.
✧ the yaxley children did not have a happy childhood. the three were spoiled with gifts from their parents and their grandparents, but lacked extreme emotional connections with their family members and each other. augustus was distant, controlling, and extremely cruel to both his wife and his children, and augustine grew up anxious. it was obvious that both parents favoured augustine's oldest brother - he was perfect: he played quidditch, excelled in all of his classes, and would most likely be the most successful of the three. augustine's middle brother was the throw-away, and augustine was an anomaly to the yaxley name.
✧ when augustine was six, her mother was murdered by her father, but nobody, except for the eldest brother knew it was augustus. augustine fell into despair - her and her mother were bonded in girlhood, and now they ophelia was gone. it felt as though augustine was invisible in a house with her father and brothers, not to mention the death eaters coming in and out of the yaxley manor.
✧ now that augustus had full control over his children, he made sure to have the strictest rules with his children, especially augustine; if she was going to be the first female yaxley in over two hundred years, she had to prove herself. he made sure to set in as many purebloods traditions early on as he could, so she could be perfect by the time that she was an adult and ready to settle down with a husband and children, unlike his deceased wife
✧ by the time that augustine started hogwarts, she was head-on into the pureblood ideals that her father heavily ingrained into her, and avoided muggleborns and some halfbloods, keeping conversations short if talked to or avoiding eye contact with them. arguably, augustine was also quite timid and would not go out of her way to talk to many people, perhaps coming off as snobby, but her father always expressed that her place was to be seen and not heard. it overwhelmed her watching other students be boisterous and/or obnoxious.
✧ it was a lonely existence at home and hogwarts, augustine barely made any friends in her first few years at hogwarts, save for a few pureblood connections, but she craved for more connections beyond her regular world and was slowly starting to deconstruct her upbringing, secretly. slowly in her fourth year, she began breaking out of her comfort zone by socializing with people she usually wouldn't, quickly realizing what sort of things she was missing out on.
✧ once she realized how out of touch she was, she began going to little muggle towns around the summer of her sixth year. her father, on the other hand, was realizing that his daughter was slowly pulling away, so like the 'good' father that he was, set augustine up with another notable pureblood.
