NASA Space shuttle Program Nikon F3 Camera (Specialized 250-Exposure Version), Circa Aug 1980 by Kirk Thorsteinson Via Flickr: The Nikon F3 was selected by NASA for the Space Shuttle program in the fall of 1978. Following this selection, specialized “Big” (250-exposure) and “Small” (72-exposure) versions of the F3 were developed, with prototypes completed around that time. These custom cameras were delivered to NASA in May 1980 and officially flew on the Space Shuttle Columbia in April 1981. Note the wear on the camera pictured.
