Isabelle was so close. Just a few more tweaks to the recipe for a fast-acting petrification cure and she’d be done, she just knew it. The other concoctions available just wouldn’t cut it for her purposes. They either temporarily slowed the progression shortly after consuming the potion, or they took weeks to cure it. That might be fine for a team of adventurers if they managed to escape, but Isabelle was alone. She needed this to work so she could get her hands on a new, wonderful ingredient: cockatrice ichor.

As she mixed yet another adjusted ratio of ingredients, her eyes drifted to the invitation that she had set just out of her normal range of sight. Goddess only knows why she received one, given how well-known she was in high society for being an eccentric recluse.
