DAY. MADE.
hey! you did ap studio art right? i'm doing it next year... do you mind giving me some advice? anything would help! thanks so much :)
Hey! Yeah I did it both my junior and senior year of high school, and it seriously helped me develop a solid portfolio for when I was applying for colleges. I think my biggest piece of advice would be to stay on top of the projects. At my high school I had to do the entire course in 1 semester (it was accelerated) which meant producing about 2 pieces per week, so, needless to say, it was extremely stressful and time consuming. So I would highly suggest allocating enough time to work on them, maybe even start on some pieces and/or ideas over the summer before you take the class. Any bit of pre-work can save you so much time and really help you out when you’re in the throes of making things. And hmm… I’m trying to think. The breadth portion is kind of nice because the pieces can be totally different thematically and materially from each other, so I would say embrace that and use it to show of you skill set. And then for the concentration, pick a subject matter or topic that you’re really (and I mean *really*) interested in or passionate about, otherwise coming up with ideas for 12 pieces will prove challenging and you’ll get tired more quickly. Plus, if you choose something you’re genuinely intrigued by, you’ll likely wind up producing better work, and be able to write about it more easily come the AP exam and college applications (assuming you’re applying to art schools). So yeah :] I don’t know what else to say really! If you have any other questions feel free to ask, about ap studio or art school or whateverÂ

I’ve never been very good at leaving things behind. I tried, but I have always left fragments of myself there too, like seeds awaiting their chance to grow.
Joanne Harris (via wordsnquotes)
We die to each other daily. What we know of other people is only our memory of the moments during which we knew them. And they have changed since then. To pretend that they and we are the same is a useful and convenient social convention which must sometimes be broken. We must also remember that at every meeting we are meeting a stranger.
