[ He’d been dropped off not too long ago.  Tagora was actually steeping his nightly cup of tea he drank before bed, until someone burst into his hive, causing him to scream. ]

[ Tagora bolted out of the kitchen, in his pajamas, and seemed distressed. ]

She said she was going to your hive!!!

Tyzias didn’t want me to go to your hivestem, because we’ve never formally met and that’s weird!

[ Well now this was weirder. ]

It was infallible logic and she just went on her way!

Your face falls. She isn’t here. And if she went to your hive....she’s going to see that you’re gone and head back out to look for you. You should have just stayed put, you’re so stupid and stubborn and what if something happens to her now and it’s all your fault because you couldn’t even do one simple little task. 

WHY DIDNT SHE MESSAGE ME

You don’t really mean to start crying in the middle of Tagora’s doorway. This is really, awfully, horribly, incredibly embarrassing and you don’t think you’ll ever live this down. You’ve never even formally met and here you are, being a big bawling wriggler. 

I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE SHE WAS SAFE SHE SAID TO STAY INSIDE AND THAT SHE HAD TO GO SAVE YOU WHY DID THIS HAPPEN WHY DIDNT SHE COME STRAIGHT HOME WHY DIDNT I 

You’re not sure what you’re saying, or why in fact. You bite your lip and curl your hands into tight fists, claws cutting into the soft skin of your palms. 

Admittedly, you’ve been on edge ever since those first familiar whispers of your lusus came. They don’t sound right, and the malevolence in them is nothing like the semi-reliable caretaker that you grew up with. Her alligiances were never all for you, and you know that, so just having her like this is enough to put the fear of some god into you. So, you look to the horrorterrors.

You figure that a creature that was never benevolent cannot truly be malevolent, so you offer your hopes and faith to the aberrations disguising themselves as horrorterrors. They have helped you once before, after all. So, you sit kneeling in the middle of the dance floor, still in your pajamas with your hair on top of your head as you bow your head over the dozens of candles lighting up the room. 

There’s a lot to know about seances and occult rituals, so you read up carefully and move with great caution. The fact that you’ve left a bit of blood as an offering might help too. Fuchsia is quite the color, after all.

Nevertheless, the interruption strikes you immediately, and you realize that you’re sitting in your moirail’s sweater (stolen) and a pair of shorts that read ‘are you nasty’ on the ass (a holiday gift). 

“U)(.” You still don’t have your voice back, given that your head is pounding and your eyes have just come back from their trip to the back of your head. So, you stare stupidly for awhile. “)(ey. I t)(oug)(t t)(at door was locked? I told everyone to go )(ome–” 

Nevertheless, you wave a hand to Stelsa. “)(ey )(ey it’s OKAY. BR-EAT)(-E and come sit for a second. T)(is )(appens a lot, t)(ings going wrong… I’ve lived in places like t)(is or aw)(ile. It’ll be okay. You’re looking for Tyzias?” 

You’re about to turn and run back outside, yelling an apology as you go, you hadn’t meant to walk in on...whatever was going on here, but then she tells you to breathe. You do. Inhale, exhale. It helps, though only a little. Actually, if anything you sort of want to cry now. You’d been holding it together really well but now that you have a moment to think straight all you can do is imagine the horrible things that could have happened to her. 

You sit, unusually quiet, and breathe some more.

It has been exactly one hour since your last text from Tyzias. And she’s not here yet. You’ve cleaned every molecule of dust from the living room and have spent the rest of the time furiously pacing around. You pull out your phone. No new messages.

You’ve looked everywhere, and you’re starting to regret having left your hive. Not because of the Zombies, but because there’s a high chance Tyzias will have made it there by now. And you’re not there. You’ve sent her some texts telling her to stay put if she does go home, but given that she still hasn’t replied to your panicked messages from earlier, there must be something wrong with her phone. That or...you don’t want to think about the or. 

You double back, wracking your brain for any other place she could have gone, and you’re back in Fibonnaci by the time you remember why she was stuck out there anyways. 

Tagora Gorjek. His hive is near yours. Tyzias had pointed it out on one of her walking tours of the area. You could head straight home, but his hive is on the way and there’s a chance she’ll be there. So you beeline. 

You rap sharply on the door, wait less than a beat for an answer, and take matters into your own hands, or feet rather, by kicking the door open. It isn’t hard to do, despite the deadbolt, what with how riled up you are.

GORJEK WHERE IS TYZIAS 

You don’t even know where to start looking for Tyzias, you’d just sprinted off into whatever the hell was going on outside. Power walking now (you’re trying to conserve some of your energy for punching stupid zombies in the face) through the Golden Ward, you’re looking for any sign of her. While you don’t find Tyzias, you do find another familiar face. 

It’s Polypa, the troll that Tyzias had assured you she was with. But she’s not. At least not that you can see. You frown, deeply, and punch another Zombie in it’s ugly face, hard. It’s skull cracks under the force. Taking a deep breath you try to put on a collected smile. 

HEY POLYPA HOW ARE YOU NOT GREAT WEATHER TODAY SEEMS TO BE CLOUDY WITH A HIGH CHANCE OF UNDEAD OUTBREAKS NEED A HAND I HAVE TWO HAVE YOU SEEN TYZIAS SHE ISNT ANSWERING MY TEXTS SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HOME AN HOUR AGO SINCE SHE NEVER SHOWED UP I DECIDED TO COME GET HER

Tyzias had been gone far too long, and you had run out of things to clean, so, caution thrown to the wind you decide to run out into what ever the hell is going on outside. 

You weren’t expecting shambling, horrifying dead things. Well...living dead things. And you’re pretty sure they want to eat you, though you can’t blame them, this coat is a piece of art and if you were a hungry undead it would be your first choice of snack too. A few of them get uncomfortably close but are swiftly dispatched with some well aimed punches to the face. You are on a mission, the zombies be damned. 

You make it to the golden ward surprisingly quickly, assuming that Tyzias was still here...regardless this was the best place to start. You’re practically sprinting through the streets when you see the sign of a shop you’ve been meaning to visit. No time like the present you think, and you’re too panicked about Tyzias to really consider the repercussions of approaching the heiress in such a bombastic way, but you can’t help yourself.

You pull a small notebook from seemingly nowhere, and note down the details Karkat has given you. You don’t know when they’ll be useful, but you are beyond certain that they will be. 

You giggle a little at the ‘above average speaker’. It’s true: your volume is less a dial and more a switch. It’s either on or it’s off, which you have found usually overwhelms people rather quickly. 

I WILL TRY MY BEST TO TAKE YOUR ADVICE TO HEART I CAN BE RATHER EXCITABLE WHICH DOSENT HELP MUCH IN THE VOLUME DEPARTMENT 

You smile as you pile some food onto a plate, not too much though, it’s well after your bed time and you know that eating too much this late will prove a mistake tomorrow.

{You go back to your hive to drop things off and sometimes to work, the layout is much nicer than the places in this ward (your room is the only one on that floor, so you basically get the entire floor mostly to yourself), but it’s a bit of a distance from the bookhive so you only spend a lot of time there when you know you won’t have to go back immediately.}

You really hope the Cotes ward isn’t too far, not because you would mind the walk, but because it means that the amount of time Tyzias spends at her hive doing important things like sleeping will be substantially less than if she lived closer to the places she frequents like the bookhive. Though you know she wouldn’t get much sleep anyways. Still, you can’t help but note the deep shadows under her eyes which look worse than your used to. 

SOUNDS PERFECT 

Giving up on the idea of productivity, you snuggle in, intertwining your legs together. You try to keep your eyes open but being so cozy and still is wearing on you.
