AGE:Â Thirty-five years old
BIRTHDAY:Â June 21st, 1985
PREFERRED PRONOUNS:Â She/they
PLACE OF BIRTH:Â Seattle, Washington
HAS LIVED IN ASTORIA FOR:Â 1 month
Why did you decide to move to Astoria? Can you tell us a little about the last place you lived in?
âWhat supernatural doesnât want to move to Astoria?â Aubrey asked, leaning back in their seat. âI was offered a role on Divided Sin. I wasnât going to turn it down. I was living in LA. You know, trying to get this whole acting thing off the ground? It was going alright, but I was suffocating there. The way of life wasnât for me. And the cost of living.â They tskâd, shaking their head. âA lot of people assume that if youâre an LA based actor then you must be rich but thatâs far from the case. I was eating like a college student between jobs.â
Are you coming to the city by yourself, with friends or family? Is it work related?
âItâs just me. Well, me and my cat, but thatâs not really what you were asking, is it?â A nervous chuckle. âAs I mentioned before, I booked a role on Divided Sin, itâs a recurring role, part of a new arc. Secondary character. Iâve been in a couple other series and a few films in the past, you can look me up on IMDB, but this is probably the biggest role to date. Certainly the most well known project Iâve been attached to. I wouldnât move for a role unless it was worth while.â A little contradictory, because theyâd just mentioned that they had wanted out of LA, but as much as Aubrey didnât like the scene, she wouldnât relocate for just any role.
Whatâs something about your past you could share with others?
âIâve loved pretending to be someone else for as long as I can remember. Thatâs why I went into acting. I would spend hours just watching people, their little quirks, the things that make them stand out from others. I loved when we did skits and plays in class. I loved pretending to be someone else. It was easier than being myself. I joined drama as soon as I was old enough, and I knew that it was what I wanted to do with myself. A lot of people think that acting is easy, but itâs not. Not if you want to put on a performance that the audience is going to enjoy. Not if youâre putting yourself into your role. Itâs the little quirks that help the audience connect with the character. Itâs why I tend to go for the indie films more than those from major studios.â Not just because a lot of the larger studios were afraid of Aubreyâs reputation.
Please elaborate on any violent circumstances you may have been involved with in the past.
âI may have assaulted the paparazzi once or twice. Those guys are creeps. They were stalking an underage co-star in one of my projects and no one was doing anything about it, despite her many reports. So I took matters into my own hands.â It was on one of their early projects and had given them a bit of a reputation, but they didnât mind. Their agent had dressed them down, worried it was going to impact their career. But they couldnât just stand by and watch an injustice happen. The result had been some type casting, which always shocked their co-stars when they found out that they were actually a pretty chill person. But they leaned into it, and they kept all their young co-stars safe. It was more then once or twice, but it had reached a point where they didnât need to get physical, able to intimidate them with just a look.
What are your weaknesses and strengths?
âI guess⌠I can be a bit short tempered at times. I canât stand around and see people get hurt. I canât just be a bystander. I have to stand up for the little guy. I always root for the underdog, you know? Iâm pretty thrifty and resourceful, and I like to think that Iâm a damn good actor. Iâm really observant, great at reading people.â
Your thoughts about supernatural beings.
âWell I am one, so Iâd like to think that Iâm pretty positive about them. I donât judge people by their species, I try not to judge people at all. I harbor no ill will towards any species. We canât help what weâre born as, or what weâre turned into. Itâs all just the luck of the draw.â
