I have seen ppl say that the new chapter was trash because “oh Chuuya is now in Fyodor’s hands. Dazai isn’t doing anything he must feel horrible.” ?? I am aware you love Soukoku but let’s talk about canon fact here.
Dazai took Chuuya from the sheep, an immature group of homeless gangsters who fended for themselves in Suribachi city. That same Sheep that betrayed Chuuya because Dazai told them lies. Dazai, after Chuuya was stabbed and off a cliff, struck a deal with him that if he joined the mafia that the sheep would be fine. This was of course because Chuuya was cornered. His only family thought he was a traitor and the source of it was Dazai.
As stated before Dazai already made that decision when he had that phone call with Mori. In other words what he did wasn’t to protect Chuuya — he made that phone call before the sheep told Chuuya that they are his only power and belong to him.
Time skip here to the present main manga. They are adults. What happened happened. Dazai and Chuuya’s partnership is out of trust. The whole soulmate thing came from the producer not Asagiri. And you can see that there is nothing soulmate-y about them. The two dislike each other — as stated in their wiki, as stated in the novel Stormbringer and stated in many other works — the two dislike each other. But they are mature enough to know that they should set their differences aside for the sake of Yokohama.
Now we are at the current chapter where Chuuya is a vampire. Dazai is amused. He isn’t heart broken. He isn’t scared. He is amused. Amused that Fyodor decided to play such a wild card. Dazai and Fyodor are the same in a way that they see their allies and enemies as chest pieces. The same way how other geniuses in the series besides Ranpo (and to refreshes your memory ; Mori, Sasaki and Ayatsuji) they will use their brains instead of their attachments to others. Dazai not caring if Chuuya is in pain or in danger is canon. Dazai caring if Chuuya is in pain or not is not canon. Calling Asagiri’s writing garbage just because your stuck in your own headcanon is stupid.
Anyone can hate a character. Heck I was never interested in Dazai, Fyodor or Chuuya for that matter. But calling Asagiri’s writing garbage even though he fed you WAY too much Chuuya content than needed since he is only a support character is entitled and selfish. You may ship Soukoku however you want. Heck ppl who don’t ship it have to deal with toxic Soukoku shippers harassing others because they don’t ship it. But saying Asagiri sucks?? Just because you ship something and he himself is thinking of his story?
Wow. How the Bungou Stray Dogs fandom has fallen so low all because you can’t put your own headcanon away from canon.
