we have built a robot to send to another planet and programmed it to send radio signal indicating its planned descent and here we are, calling it a heartbeat.

“we have just received confirmation that Perseverance is alive and well” space travel is so full of love for robots but who am i to judge i am crying too

when Opportunity “died” our last words where that we would see it again and now another robot has joined it on mars and we are lovingly calling it Percy.

The NASA scientists who were in charge of that mission nicknamed the Opportunity rover Oppy

We got Curiosity to hum Happy Birthday to itself on the surface of an uninhabited planet where no one would ever hear it. As it moves, its wheels spell out “JPL” as a reminder of where it was born – the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Humans are a lonely species, and we love our robot children fiercely.
