Alright, time for a re-introduction.
Sup, tumblr? long time. i’m coming back to this platform because twitter’s a fucking dumpster fire and my bff @skullamity led me to believe this is a good place to find community. I started this blog as a host for my portfolio way back in like 2016 and I’ve barely touched it since. I’m gonna leave the old work up here and start slowly posting more recent stuff and trying to be an actual part of things.
So, a little about me: I was born Trevor Halligan, and under that name you might have seen work from me in various places:
-A now-defunct slice-of-life webcomic called SHYEAH! that I drew with my buddy Brad back in 2009
-Several t-shirt designs submitted to various @forfansbyfans design contests, including the 2013 Deadpool contest, which I won.
-My webtoon Unmentionably Fresh, which ran from 2016-17, until severe depression ended its run after one season.
That depressive state lasted several years until I finally broke -- I was at a crossroads in my life. I could keep doing what I’d been doing or I could take control and try to build the life I’d always wanted. I chose the latter.
I came out as pansexual, left my abusive marriage, got laid off from my corporate job. even changed my name. I had to blow my life up to get where I wanted to go.
So, yeah. I’m Atlas. Nice to meet you.
It’s been just over a year since my legal name change was complete. In that time I’ve launched a new webtoon, My Boyfriend is a Shark with my creative partner, Liz Ransdell. Liz has been an absolute godsend for me; the exact collaborator I’ve always wanted. In addition to Shark, we’re also developing our first graphic novel (Kickstarter launching soon!) and started a creative studio as a venue for our future creative projects. I’ll be talking more about all those projects in this space in the future.
My calling as an artist is to help people tell their stories. I love creative collaborations -- skilled, passionate people using their various skills to create work that’s greater than the sum of their parts. If at the end of my life, I’ve helped others put their stories into the world, I’ll be able to die happy.
So that’s my focus. I’m hoping I can use Tumblr to bring folks along with me on that journey, and maybe even meet some dope future collaborators along the way.
If you read this far, sorry you’re having such a boring day.
