Her immediate correction to whatever assumptions sheβd made about his ego was the grace of laughter to the silence between the two of them. βArrogant fuck.β Athenaβs voice, however, was amused. Out of all of the gods on this island, she was most amused by him. He was like her in many ways, much like her brother in others, and through it all, he gave as well as he took. Hm. Now that was a thought Athena could let settle. βIβd consider letting you be the one to make me scream your name, but Iβm not sure I could pronounce it.β
She plucked the cigarette from his proffered fingers. βAlthough.β She leaned forward, filter poised between her lips, expectant for the god to light the tip for her to inhale. βI am quite adept at picking things up quickly. Perhaps there are a few new tricks to learn. But for the record.β Fingers reached forward, slipping through his coarse beard, nails tickling his jaw. βI prefer the term virgin warrior.β
There was some kind of divine irony in his penchant for cigarette smoke. Thankfully, Charis was the one place he could smoke in peace, without hearing some do-gooder prattle on about how they caused cancer. He knew - he was that very same disease, when he wanted to be. Either way, that explained why brick wall build was currently leaned against the nearest building, fingers tapping the end of filter to shed ashes like his lost mortality.Β

The tone wasnβt all together uninviting, it was a genuine question. An inquiry that might not have had the cleanest of intentions behind it, but it was one nonetheless. The edge of a grin creeping up at the corner of his mouth was enough to cause a stir of emotions in anyone, caught somewhere between amused and just this side of predatory.Β
Adrina, despite herself, relished the smell of smoke. Even the rolled tobacco of Kahlilβs cigarette seemed sweet and she felt drawn to it, as though heβd poised it in one of her own temples. She approached, no reticence, just the candid confidence of a goddess who was allowed to be anywhere at any time. Invitations be damned.
And instead, he prattled on with the same godlike hubris she was used to. Perhaps his tone held no annoyance, but there was something goddamn near carnivorous in his smile. Adrinaβs lips pressed tightly into a line, though her face remained an unfiltered soft. βOh, tsk. I was a moth to your cigaretteβs flame, not your own.β

Possible connections that I would love for Athena/Adrina:
β Apollo. Athenaβs brother and veritable pain in her ass. Adrina feels similarly; he is always a thorn in the side, but heβs her thorn in the side and she loves him. 10/10 would do anything for him. She still hasnβt quite forgiven him about the Trojan War.
β Helen of Troy. Because fuck that bitch.
β Her first lover. I know, right? Itβs going to get KINKY up in here. Adrinaβs pretty pent up and itβs only going to get worse for her. Not to be dramatic, but she needs the D.
β Followers. Sacrifices. Maybe a sacrifice from centuries ago. One of the original worshipers.
β Anyone from Athens back in the day.
β Hephaestus. I would honestly die to have someone willing to accept their history. Or at least... some version of it.
