So ever since I made this blog it has always been part of my backstory for Felicia that her mother dies from a terminal illness which leads to her being a caretaker for her younger brother (who is not a canon character and only exists on this blog). This was back in like . . . May? June? And it plays a big part in how I write Felicia, contributing to her downward spiral, return to crime, and eventually pulling herself back from that and learning to be better because now she has someone who depends on her.
And now it turns out that Felicia wanted the infinity stones all this time because, get this, her mom has c*ncer. Or had, because Star supposedly heals her (I say supposedly because we know how Marvel is when it comes to dropping Trauma Bombs when we think our protagonists have escaped from a traumatic event only to have it come to fruition later on). So outside of that detail and the nonexistence of her brother, it’s the same goddamn thing I came up with lmao. And I’m just . . . I don’t know how to feel? On one hand it feels partially validating? Like, here’s this idea I had, and now it’s in my fav comic out of pure coincidence. And that’s cool!
But also . . . now it sorta feels like that idea is fair game for anyone. It’s not something completely unique to my portrayal anymore because now anyone can take it and be like “well this is the direction they were probably gonna go anyway so it’s not original and not explicitly yours” when I actually did come up with it MONTHS ago. Which isn’t happening yet but we all know how tumblr is especially in a big fandom like this so you know my anxiety’s gonna jump on this opportunity to be a jerk and convince me that it’s going to happen to me again because I’ve been stolen from before.
IDK I think this sounds more negative than I intended and I assure you I am only like 1% salty about this and strictly because anxiety is bullshit lol. I just have that weird feeling like I brought cookies to work and the boss took one during lunch thinking they were communal and now anyone can think it’s fair game and how can you tell them otherwise?? fsdlkjkjh this all probably sounds weird and self-centered because it’s not like marvel stalked my blog and got that idea from me because that definitely is not the case, I’m not delusional or egotistical, and shit happens and people get the same ideas sometimes. But I cannot properly process how I feel or describe it adequately enough. It’s just . . . so weird for me.
I’ll make a post with actual spoilers in a sec but just know that this comic has introduced some things that have been part of my personal worldbuilding for Felicia since I started writing her and I don’t know how to feel about the fact that it’s canon(?) now because it’s something that is so incredibly specific???
