“It’s been a long time since I came around.” Busy as ever was Lady Luck herself, yet she always made time to come back to everyone - and anyone - that she crossed paths with. After all, luck was known to run out at some point or another, and Evangeline was more than happy to refill people’s cups. 

Though that wasn’t always the case, sometimes she just liked to stop by and chat.

The silver haired woman smiled brightly at the other, as if seeing an old friend. Were they friends? She was quick to like others, and consider a friendship. Heels clicked against the ground as she strode forward. “Been a long time, but I’m back in town.”

Under different circumstances, Mateo wouldn’t have hesitated to help out a civilian, especially when it concerned an imminent danger. In his eyes, this wasn’t a civilian but a Raider. This one, he and other NCR soldiers had been warned, had a twisted affinity for their kind.

Them as a person: “Ethan is remarkable, given all his accomplishments despite the circumstances he has went through. I look up to him, and am proud to be at his service.”

Level of attractiveness:“I don’t follow what is being asked.”

What annoys them most:“I worry for the future that he will make. His goals, his family, is important but so are the other families living in the Wasteland that were also affected by the bombs. I feel that he does not always consider this.”

What they like the most:“I admire his drive. He achieves what he puts his mind to, and I have been honored to join him in the journey to get his family back.”

What they’d do if they were locked in a closet together for 4 hours:“If we are both uncomfortable, I assume we would try to escape. If not, then I am sure the time will be spent in conversation.”

Overall opinion:“I place my trust in Ethan without second thought. He has shown to be capable of doing what’s right, and I will remain by his side.”

Them as a person: “Abner is strange. The pleasantness of being welcomed, being made to feel like family is strange. Yet I would like to know more about him.” 

Level of attractiveness:“I don’t… Understand…”

What annoys them most:“This Enclave he mentions? It sounds nothing like the United States, not the one I know. He is loyal to it, I wonder if and hope it is not blindly so.”

What they like the most:“Despite may or may not being the United States, Abner is fiercely loyal to it. It is an admirable trait, one that makes me proud to serve by his side if allowed.”

What they’d do if they were locked in a closet together for 4 hours:“I would either help him escape, or take the time to better understand him. Whichever he would prefer.”

Overall opinion:“Comforting, as much as I can consider comfort. It is why I’m giving him a chance, trusting him despite the strangeness.”

Did the ghost remember? His purpose, his mission? Was his robotic brain even capable of anything else? The blank visor revealed nothing.

“We were…made,” he explained, struggling for the right words. “By humans. By the same humans. The United States government. Do you remember that?” He unbuttoned the top of his jacket, pulling aside his undershirt to reveal a thick scar running down his chest. More circled his neck, still raw and bleeding in patches. “They did different things to me, but we’re still the same…species. We belong to the same people.”

It was hard to tell if his words were making an impression, or even any sense in general. He half-expected the man to attack him as soon as he finished, but he pressed on.

“The United States still exists. They sent me to bring you home. You’ll have a real purpose again, and people to take care of you.” He lowered his gun and held out a hand to shake—fully trusting. “Come on. You know we weren’t made to work alone.”

Ghost remembered many things. From the training the scientists had him endure to new information learned in this ruined world, he remembered it all. That's why it was strange to believe that not only did the American government still exist, but also that he and Abner were one of the same. 

Not impossible, he kept reminding himself, but still hard to believe. 

"I remember my humans who made me. They gave me my purpose." The helmet turned slightly, a sign of him studying the scar that was presented. Ghost had his own fair share of marks, though his were precise, thin and now faded lines along his person. It was fleeting evidence of what hid beneath his skin. "By “species” you mean a humanized weapon, don't you?" 

 He had his doubts that his humans would still be alive, or even be behind this reunion. The United States was more than just that team, he knew, and so the possibility of his protectee still existing would be a chance he'd take. No matter how many years it had been, his purpose to serve remained. So, after only a moment of considering, he outstretched his hand to shake Abner's. 

An attentive cant of the head, a curious reciprocation of the quick up—down the other man gave him.  PROTECTION, was it ?    Carlo gave an interested hum, brow furrowed, a little off—put by the idea, and almost trying to decide if he should refuse.  In the end, though, he was the sort to go with the flow, and he didn’t want to be INSULTING anybody.  Besides, what fool turned down an extra gun ?

Ultimately, he extended one hand for a shake.

“ Protection, huh ?    I don’t think I asked for any, so that’s pretty thoughtful to offer. ”    He said amiably.    “ Technically, it’s DOCTOR, not mailman, but you can just call me by my name. ”

A part of him, though small, was a bit surprised by the man’s laid-back nature. It made his job much easier, so Mateo decided against commenting. Anyone could use an extra gun, and a skilled sniper would be the cherry on top on it all. That, and he was a free extra gun. 

The rifle’s then moved to one hand, the other now grasping his to finish the greeting. A good man so far, he thought.

“Didn’t have to. The Republic’s heard about you, seen what you’ve done so far, and it’s admirable enough to warrant a reward.” His head tilted every so slightly, the new title bringing curiosity with it. Doctor was unexpected, but pleasantly so. “My apologies then, Doctor.
