#WDC2011 - Just a few hours away
I've been looking forward to WDC2011 and today's the day for the pudding.
Will it be a mega let down or might it be the event of the year (in the eyes of Web Developers at least)?
En route
I'm currently on the 542 Ipswich to London train, where I need to then tube it to Paddington and then head to Bristol. If all goes well, I'll arrive just in time for Mr Strawberry Soup to take the stage.
All the speakers look like they'll provide an interesting 45 minutes and from some of their tweets I'm anticipating a good chunk of humour too.
It's CSS, SEO, jQuery, C#, SQL... at DigiBee
Today was just like every day at DigiBee HQ - a complete mix of tasks, some challenging, some frustrating, all rewarding.
And DigiBee is...?
DigiBee is a programmatic, analytic and marketing solutions provider - yes, quite a mouthful.
Since 2008, the company has steadily grown, employing gurus in marketing, PPC, programming, social, analytics, engineering and much, much more.
We're all geeks at DigiBee and we've all got our quirks, from a marketing guru needing all mugs to face the same way in the cupboard to a pen stealing operations manager.
DigiBee is a fantastic place to work, no two days are the same - except Saturday and Sunday when not much happens.
So what does DigiBee do?
We have two sister companies - PolicyBee (a UK based professional liability insurance broker) and InsuranceBee (a US based errors & omissions insurance agent).
Our sister companies are our primary focus, (however, we still find the time to work on other companies' projects from time to time) enabling us to collaborate on all projects, ensuring short and long term top notch solutions.
The door opens
Tomorrow, DigiBee will be posting two vacancies on its blog.
The email inbox will be wide open for anyone interested in joining DigiBee as either a marketing assistant or a web developer - maybe you could be both?
Once we've uploaded the job profiles and some details on how to apply, @PolicyBee will let the world know with a tweet, so start following.
My seo experiment
The giant indigo experiment is now into its second day, as of yet none of the sites are in the top 50 for "giant indigo turtles".
To expedite the experiment I'll be looking to add links for the three sites over the next few days - following the same approach (exact, partial, low match).
With links being key to Google's authority score this becomes a necessary evil.
So what's your bet on for the higher ranking?
Will it be ayellowturtle with its exact linking on giant indigo turtles or will it be anavyturtle with its partial key phrase linking to indigo turtles or maybe, just maybe it might be apinkturtle with its extended linking on giant indigo turtles?
Time will tell and I'm looking forward to the results.
Experiment #2 will follow immediately after experiment #1 concludes.

I contribute therefore I am on the web
The 80/20 rule seems to be increasingly used to quantify pretty much any activity in the modern world.
Whether the subject is how wealth is proportioned or how a working week is spent by a Google employee, it's the ubiquitous 80/20 rule that crops up.
Well, it's time for a new kid on the block
I unveil the 99/1 rule.
But what's my subject? It's contribution. Buying those nice shoes or a new book isn't contributing, it's what comes next.
Have you submitted a review? Yes? Well done, you're one of the few. Now have you submitted more than one? more than ten? What about those great articles you read - do you comment?
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt" - Abraham Lincoln
The average online user is an awful contributor. They use and they leave. But why?
My hunch is there are two reasons:
Will I look like an idiot?
Why should I give an opinion?
If I'm right, then I'm saddened. To think that my fellow man and woman are so worried that they might be ridiculed for casting opinion that they avoid it all together means we're all missing out.
If it's in fact people "can't be bothered", I am again disappointed that so many people are prepared to hide away and contribute the bear minimum to the world they are only part of once and who knows when that will cease?
A plea
So, from the highest virtual mountain, with the loudest keypress - GO FORTH AND CONTRIBUTE!
@dpitt
I will prepare and some day my chance will come.
