At the waving Shizuko bounded over, happy to see as she neared that it was Asuka she had spotted. Man, it’d been a while since they’d seen each other, hadn’t it? “Ah, Oshiro-san! H-hi!” She gave a wave back, the flute still grasped in that hand. It was good to see her again, really!
Taking the seat with a smile and a nod the daydreamer held out the instrument, gliding the other hand over it as she talked. “Oh, y-yeah, I can! I’m not really, y’know, the b-best at it, but I like to think I’m p-pretty good!” She paused, looking over the slender flute. “I can p-play you a song, if you w-want. There’s a f-few I’ve got down, y-yeah.”
In all honesty, the thought of Laura just barely crossed the daydreamer’s mind as she chattered, until her swinging foot almost met into one of her scattered pieces. Her gaze traveled down from Asuka to the dismembered puppet slowly, and she jolted slightly before seeming to realize what exactly the pieces were. “Oh…L-laura-san?” Her blue eyes turned back towards the puppeteer, confusion in them. “Does sh-she need repairs or s-something….?”
Despite how long it had been, Asuka seemed perfectly pleased to see the daydreamer! Shizuko was one of few people that didn't totally terrify the small girl, plus Shizuko was around her own size! "Oh, I'm sure you're fine, Shizuko...! Whatever you want to play is fine with m--" her voice caught in her throat as Shizuko nearly kicked one of Laura's parts, and she tensed for a moment, visibly relaxing and letting out a held breath when she realized that Shizuko's leg missed.
"Oh...! Well, um, I'm not sure yet...someone knocked me down in the hall earlier, so I was inspecting her to see if any of her parts were damaged in the fall..." She trailed, off, her gaze on a part in her hand. Her fingers slid along it with practiced movements, rather easily taking the pieces apart and inspecting them before putting them off to one side in a pile and moving to the next one. "I have to check them all...if even one part is damaged, she won't operate right..." As she worked, she furrowed her eyebrows, letting out a sigh.
"You know, I still love Laura as much as the day I first made her, but...I'm starting to wonder if I should maybe make a new puppet, too...There's more than one type, after all, and I'm not sure I can get any better with...everything wrong with me if I don't change as much as possible..." Before long, she had checked all the parts, and was now in the process of re-assembling, although her hands were slower now as she seemed lost in her thoughts before she remembered that hey, she wasn't just talking to herself like usual. She looked at Shizuko with a light blush on her face. "O-Oh, I'm sorry...! I didn't mean to ramble like that...! Just, um, ignore me and enjoy your flute playing...?"
