PC users talking about how bad it is for Sony to go fully digital (it is bad) are hilarious yours was the first platform to normalise digital only
although the PC is still the only platform that'll let you play games off floppy disks
this is the Phoenix zoo, she's got plenty of outdoor space 👍
I'll also say she looks super healthy and happy in that video so she probably loves her cool concrete room #myconkrete

There are three hundred rats

Like me :)
But I’m sneaky cuz I’m in the grain so they don’t count me >:)
oh my goodness, rat in the grain, hello I love your work it's great to see you
@countably-infinite-rats
today's reason I fucking love the open source community: Ageless Linux, a brand new Debian-based operating system specifically designed to break the law by giving children access to computers that explicitly refuse to track their age.
reblog this post to help a child break the law
oh goddamn this whole page goes so hard actually, please go read it. what an impressive, visceral takedown of this dumb law

I would like to drive a hard but bro I paid £220 for a SINGULAR 8TB drive fmscl
i say this to everyone, get second hand SAS drives, rather than SATA!!!! You will need a little pcie card to use them, but then you can get them for around £10-15 per TB!!!
Also, if you want servers (because you want IPMI), get a MicroServer Gen 10+ (the flat ones)
This little box can hold FOUR disks and has a SAS backplane (though you'll have to get a SAS HBA).
Also, it is fully apartment compatible, I've been sleeping next to mine for over a year now.
May I recommend such thrilling technical innovations as "thrifted PC from [local classifieds platform]" for a case and "#6-32 UNC screw set from [insert online retailer here]" for a source of screws
If you have too little space you can just drill holes in the side panel and bolt the hard drives to it
My issue is that my server already does have a rather fashionable case, assembled from a 30cm glass cube (off the shelf aquarium) and a bunch of 3d printed parts. While the fan and IO placement is fully modular, I just did not design it with expandability in mind...
Here's an image I took, shortly after I first assembled it:
Please do ignore the fucked up plushie in the background.
As you can see, there is not a lot of space there. Fitting my HBA card was already difficult, especially with the cooling considerations for parts designed for blade servers, and the maximum so far was one large HDD just stuffed in the bottom somewhere. The solution as of now is to take out the modular panel in the back and just run the cables out, sneakily placing the drives behind the case.
I am in the process of designing an extended base that I can just plop the entire server on top of, but unfortunately I am not only lazy, but also busy. That base would have space for up to 8 drives, perhaps with a dedicated cooling fan, and some actual cable management.
Just add another pedestal below no one will notice
Also if you're already designing cases, why not add some LED panels?
The Thinking Machines CM-2 yearns for a recreation
Also that curved thing on the side is the Data vault which holds a whopping 5 Gigabytes and can transfer at a blazing 40 MB/s
Actually you are so right, I should add LEDs
