Me: maybe i should come back to the muse i love so very much
Crippling anxiety & adult responsibilities: lol naaaaa you wonât
( lmaooooooo so along with the whole bereavement/funeral thing my wifi also decided to just stop working for like two weeks straight?????? I guess Iâm finally back from whatever horrific death my connection seemed to have suffered. A+ service. Thank.
Anyway, idk what to do with archer plot-wise because heâs so difficult and like half of the people i interact with or that are of importance to him are just straight-up gone so uh... hit me up???? I need to start fresh with this loser. )
I love Johto
Calling a (small-ish) but totally necessary hiatus on Will, Archer, and Proton. Iâve obviously been a little bit busy moving back to Uni and work, setting up a club, etc â but Iâve also got a number of family emergencies going on and Iâm just a little bit frazzled by it all.Â
The cut below is for mentions of cancer, hospitalisation, death, and all kinds of miseries associated with terminal illness:

God give a little loveÂ
Bring me back a dog in the next life
God give a little loveÂ
Wanna be a dog in the next life
âBecomes my problem? I selected you to do one thingâand that is be my second. Thatâs the key there. My second. You claim to have believed I was so flawless, and at the same time, you didnât have the faith nor the common sense to lay low. No, instead, you try to take the reigns yourself and do quite the opposite of what youâre supposed to do. And you failed.Â
âAnd I must wonder if thereâs something youâre not telling me. Was this an imitation? Were you playing out some power fantasy of you being on top? You act as if I donât care about Rocket, but your clumsy display in Johto was an embarrassment. You put everyoneâs lives at risk again, at our most vulnerable moment. For what? Just to prove to yourself you could lead? That you were my equal? Or maybe your so called âfaithâ in me is a lie, and what you really mean is that you hate the fact that you have to get off of my throne.
âIf you donât want to own up to your mistakes, fine. But they were yours. What do you want? An apology for not being able to pin instructions to your lapel like a child when the amalgamation of regional justice was breathing down our necks? That is, by the way, the real threat, not Red. All Red did was get a spotlight on him, and he elected to shine it upon our underbelly.Â
âI certainly donât mean to imply I am without fault when it comes to our conflict in Kanto. Youâre right. As a Leader, I am the primary benefactor of the faults there. But I was never alone. Proton failed training the grunts, Ariana failed to cut him off, Petrelâs attempts at manipulation within the League bore no fruit, and your logistics only began functioning when the boy was right outside our doorstep. We all failed. But, yes, most of all, I failed. I was too merciful. I underestimated our enemy. But I suppose itâs not every day you see a legend outside your door.
âBut when you betray all of us to promote divisive tactics, when you pawn off our assets to the highest bidder that will stroke your ego right when we have a chance to return, then yes, you are wrong, Archer. And somehow, despite your most extravagant failure managing Team Rocket, you think youâre the one most qualified to be its savior. Hilarious.
âEven at my worst moment, I ran Rocket for years and turned it into the greatest criminal empire the world had ever seen. You ran it into the ground in record time. So your solution, then, is to break it apart for a rival organization.Â
ââŚI used to be so proud of you. When I looked at you, I saw the best of us. Now, all I can do is wonder how you sank so fucking low.â
âMm-- I could say the same of you, Boss.â
A sentiment shared indeed, though it seems as though neither one can agree upon much else. They cannot possibly hope to continue this way... And yet, Archer has no intention of conceding.
âItâs funny to think that you and I once walked side by side. Our desires for       this Team were once well in line with one another -- but now? They could       not be more different. Itâs all wrong.â
He could almost be described as a little mournful of the loss of such a partnership. Despite his fast declining opinion of his Leader, he DOES admit to owing him quite a debt. He would not be where he is without Giovanni -- and that accounts for both his successes and failures alike.
âAnd now we find ourselves at an impasse. Both of us have crossed lines       that the other can neither forgive nor forget, and we shall never quite look       at one another in quite the same way again.â
A pause, hands clasped behind his back as he regards the other, still every bit as unflinching in the face of confrontation as he always has been. He knows full well that he is treading an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS line, but it is too late to turn back now, and he has no intention of grovelling for forgiveness and recanting everything like some spineless, cowardly âyes manâ.
Archer has come to expect that he should not be let off lightly for such transgressions -- as he would HOPE from the Giovanni he once knew so well. Itâs a pity that he has no intention of tolerating it for very much longer. He shall not bend quite so easily as before.
âSo, what now? Where do we go from here, hmn?"
@assiduousunderboss
Heâs taking a nap right in the middle of the only path in the forest. Itâs a good thing heâs so tiny. Most people can step right over him, but hopefully nobody steps on him. That wouldnât be fun.
      âOh look, a mouse.â
Thereâs a nod in the direction of the tiny creature, at which the wet snout of his Houndoom nuzzles into its soft fur of Dedenneâs belly, almost... Almost as if--

âLooks like he wants you to tell him a story.â Ari clicked her tongue to bring Arbok to heel and walked on, snickering.Â
âHa. Ha. Very funny -- Now, will you call him over? He might actually       listen to you; heâs always had an irritating preference for women.â
Aubrey couldnât help but giggle softly as he knelt to shake the offered paw before giving the Houndoom the earned treat. âItâs a pleasure to meet a cutie like you~. Do you like scritches as much as you like treats~?â   Though he didnât immediately try to pet the canine of course, and instead offered his hand to be sniffed.
His glance shifted over to the adorable dogâs trainer. âMy brother trains and conditions pokemon for a living, so Iâve picked up a trick or two. You have a beautiful Houndoom here. Does he have a name?⠍
In turn, the canine scoffs down the treat with gusto, more than happy to shove its muzzle into the outstretched palm in hope for more... Or just in the hope of some much-needed attention. Archer hardly neglects his PokĂŠmon, but with a busy schedule comes less head scritches -- and heâs never one to freely dish them out in a public space like this.
On his part, Archer isnât particularly used to being approached like this, and it shows. Heâs never been much of a conversationalist, but he has no desire to be rude, either--
âAh? ...Oh, no. I donât name my PokĂŠmon.â
Really, it doesnât seem appropriate for a man of his station to have pet names for his team, considering most of them wind up involved in his work at some point. We certainly canât have a high-ranking Executive sending out ( Arceus forbid ) âPumpkinâ or âSpotâ into the field to destroy evidence or intimidate, can we?
      âHeâs a working dog -- sort of.â
When heâs not lounging around and ignoring him, that is.
âTry reverse psychology?â she offered, shrugging, as Arbok paused to inspect a fire hydrant.
Reverse psychology, hm..?
Very well. Archer sits himself down on the floor alongside the lazy animal with both legs splayed out before him... Only for Houndoom to get up and sit right ON him instead.
      âAck! A--Ariana, this isnât working!â
âSometimes they just need a little incentive. Humans can be the exact same way.â The ravenette dug through his bag for the small bag of treats heâd been saving for his brotherâs canine pokemon, but he could spare a few.      âDo you mind?â Violet hues glanced up to the stranger with a smile as he opened the bag to pull out one of the treats.
âIâd be careful -- he bites strangers.â
Of course, his warning is entirely useless. It turns out that Archerâs dear companion is HIGHLY food motivated, rising up from its spot to obediently sit before the stranger, offering up a paw in exchange for the treat.Â
Oh, yes. What a vicious creature he must be.
â...But apparently not ones with food.â
Some guard dog you are.
â your jealousy is flattering, but rather unbecoming of you. it is HARDLY a good look. â
âThis isnât JEALOUSY -- itâs outright disgust.â

âJust take it easy, dear. Stop tugging and let him walk at his own pace,â suggested Ariana, smugly walking by with her Arbok in a leash and collar.Â
âThis is less of a walk than it is a daytime siesta! Iâm not even tugging any longer --       I canât when Iâm stood perfectly still!â
Yep. Heâs not going anywhere any time soon.
âMy cats are well behaved unlike your mutt of a houndoom.â Just casually pushes his glasses up. âFuel wouldnât be unmovable like that lump of fur and bones.â Also ignores the comment about cats being disobedient.
Listen here, you little shit...
âHow dare you? He is not some common MUTT.â
True, it is in his beloved petâs nature to be a little lazy at times, but his Houndoom are endlessly loyal and dependable -- nothing at all like he imagines those wretched felines to be.
âYes, because I bet your cats are on their best behaviour at all times.       You wouldnât have anything to hide about them.â
One day, heâs going to leave a full glass of milk on the side and see JUST how tempted theyâll be to knock it off. THEN heâll see just how perfect these cats are.
