Speaking of Theo’s maid, something strange happened concerning her.
Previously, when Theo’s nanny spoke about Ludovica at his request, the maid was nearby, and the next day, the nanny suddenly left.
At first, I didn’t think it had anything to do with the maid, but later I realized she might have been the one who reported it, since she was the only one present at the time.
For some reason, information about Ludovica was hidden from the Empire, and I couldn’t understand why the nanny disappeared~ but doesn’t it all make sense now?
It was later revealed that the maid had been from the Church, and they had been trying to strip Theo of all hope in order to make him completely obedient to them.
Right after that, Richelieu appeared and became Theo’s tutor.
Even though the result would have been the same — Theo would still find no information about Ludovica — Richelieu made him lose hope in a way that gave the child a Twisted way of thinking, something the Church preferred over the kind approach of the maid who used to smile at him.
He already knew, because someone had told him.

i think norshu fans are too nice considering that many (not all) jershu fans constantly claim that the only reason nora is ML instead of jeremy is because of shuri being jeremy's stepmother. ship whatever you like, but the idea that shuri would choose jeremy over nora in a universe where they're not stepson & and stepmother is entirely unfounded. nora will always be her choice because he is the one who understands her, and he intinctually knows what she needs at any point. we see at multiple times that jeremy needs nora to explain shuri's behaviour to him before he begins to understand her (e.g., nora telling jeremy that shuri fussing over them is her way of caring); jeremy himself is aware that nora understands her better (e.g., him asking nora for his opinion on shuri's sleepwalking). someone who doesn't misunderstand her or need her to ever act in a certain way to be understood, from the start, is who shuri wants and needs. someone who makes her feel like the weight on her shoulders is lighter because he knows what she needs from him (e.g., nora purposely losing the tournament because shuri didn't want to see either of them get hurt).
jeremy's tragedy is that he can't even express his love (even while someone like theobald can) just because of a disgusting decision his father made. it's that this entire trial will be calling his very real feelings for her immoral, that he will have to get up there and deny ever committing an immoral act, all the while his feelings are more natural than johannes marrying a child.
again, ship whatever you want, but let's not pretend that nora is the ML only jeremy can't be. nora is the best choice for shuri and will always remain her only choice.
I’m curious to get your thoughts on the very last panel of 157, where it shows the box that held Shuri’s repressed memories (tumblr won’t let me add pictures). Instead of showing something dark, it appears as if orbs of light are floating out of it, with one glowing brighter than the rest. My first thought was “oh is Shuri remembering her meeting with Nora in TL1?” Because this panel is right after Nora shows up, and the box is associated with Shuri’s memories, plus when Shuri met Nora in TL2, she thought he looked familiar but eventually dismissed it as a Nuremburg family resemblance. I know it seems kind of unlikely, but I think it’s a very interesting idea!

There has been several references to the symbolic jewelry box inside Shuri's mind in the past few chapters. Which Shuri addresses it's contents to be both her traumatic memories and her deepest and darkest emotions (which go hand in hand).
"It's time to face it. The memories I've buried deep at the bottom. The ones I've kept turning away from."

"I made a small box and put my heart inside. Midnight loneliness, sadness, hesitation. I put unnecessary feelings into the box, crumpled them small, and shoved them into a deep, dark place.
With nowhere to go, I have to fool myself. To survive.
Nothing happened.

Interestingly, in the latest chapter, Shuri comes to a conclusion that the best way to defend herself against the Court is to "[cover] over the wounds I've finally recognized and [return] to the iron-blooded facade I once wore. I will choose a lie for your sake."
It's a super extreme and totally valid reaction to the situation she's in. She has little to nowhere left to run and she's put under the biggest spotlight of the century. This is Shuri returning to her 1st timeline roots as the infamous iron widow. Like how she lied to protect herself in the 1st timeline (with the contract relationship), Shuri is publicly (and falsely) denying that the "fateful night" ever happened to protect her family. While Shuri has mentally addressed (to herself) that it did, in fact, happen; confessing out loud would strengthen Stella's false narrative of that night.
In this sense, Shuri hasn't fully released the contents of her mental jewelry box. The memory of that night has been released, but her emotions are still under lock. Especially with Nora missing and Jeremy and Alberon banned from participating in the Duel, she has little people left to trust (seeing how she almost gave into Theo's offer) other than herself.
I think Nora's last minute appearance at the trial was a breath of relief for Shuri, to finally relax and be able to let go of the iron widow facade. She's no longer that girl who didn't allow herself to open up to people, or to show emotions. Now she's free to rely on her loved ones and mourn the little girl inside of her that was hurt all those years ago. The memory itself is dark, but she finally released the barriers that were protecting herself from being human.
Which brings me to its connection to the 1st timeline! There's a crazy callback to Shuri and Nora's 1st timeline meeting, which I think ORKA was totally alluding to. I think Shuri was remembering the emotional toll of being who she was in the 1st timeline and having to be on edge, even to a strange boy she met hiding in the bushes.
Shuri probably doesn't recall Nora specifically, but I think this was a core emotional memory for the both of them. In this moment, they both confronted one another's secret of 'what pain are you hiding?' and ended up both choosing to run away, ending the relationship right where it started (from Shuri's perspective, at least). 1st timeline Nora may have learned about Shuri's secrets, but she died before he could reveal himself to her.

It's so poetically heartbreaking how even in that brief interaction, they saw a glimpse of themselves in each other, but they couldn't let go of that control, with Nora running back into the shadows and Shuri stepping back into the scrutinizing spotlight.
For the first time ever, they're standing on the same stage, doing what they've never done before: Nora taking a loud and proactive stance and Shuri, stepping back and relying on someone she trusts.

sorry not sorry but these two have more development and character growth with each other. Nora and Shuri aren’t bad but it felt like they liked each other cuz the story wanted that not because the two had actual chemistry.

I don’t even know where to begin...but i will try. Nora has no memories with her from her first life, and nothing connects him to Johann, and that’s exactly what makes his presence comforting to her. He wasn’t part of that hell, and for that reason alone, he’s the only one who could bring her heart a sense of peace… Alongside many other profound reasons, he slowly brought her back to herself — not as a woman burdened by the weight of others, but as a young soul who simply needed someone to truly see her, embrace her fragility, and offer her safety without conditions, as if his presence alone was enough to remind her that she still deserved to live as a girl her age. And that’s exactly what Shuri needs the most — to be free from responsibilities. I hope next time you read the manhwa with actual understanding...

++It's often forgotten that Nora experienced the same pain of loneliness that Shuri went through, that's why no one understands better than the two of them how to heal each other. And honestly, what makes their relationship so captivating is that Nora is still somewhat of a strange man to Shuri, since he doesn’t live in the same house with her. So it’s only natural for her to feel shy around him — and that’s why those sweet, fluttery moments that make your heart skip a beat tend to happen between them by chance ><!!💘💘💞.

something i'll always miss about ASM season 1 is all the physical comedy moments.
lots of characters could still get away with it, but we don't get them nearly as much now that everyone's older and more mature. that, and the gags are far more situational than these straight up slapstick moments.
