Been playing the demo between classes lately!

OKAY HERE COMES AN ESSAY CUZ I'VE THOUGHT A LOT ABOUT THIS (thank you for the ask!!)

tl;dr there are a few shadows forms I could see as a good match up for Gunter~ some lean more towards the 'this animal fits with his visual and/or personality aesthetics' category and others are 'okay this is an extremely long shot but it would just be cool'

1. Silver Fox

PRETTY SELF EXPLANATORY CHOICE. so silver foxes are just red foxes but due to excess melanin their coats end up a blended mix of black/grey/silver. THEY'RE REALLY PRETTY and would mesh well with Gunter's preexisting colour palette (not to mention Nohr in general). there's also the fact that 'a silver fox' is a nickname for an attractive older man, and Gunter definitely checks that box (hell, I've absolutely referred to him as a silver fox in the past, LOL). and we can't forget symbolically what foxes represent in stories either: a figure who is cunning, plays tricks, and typically is motivated to deceive others. SOUNDS LIKE A CERTAIN SOMEONE, DOESN'T IT............

2. Black Wolf

admittedly this choice is largely inspired by your characterization of Gunter in YRMR, in particular that one chapter where Gunter/Corrin journey out to slay the black wolf. as another melanistic colour variant (this time of the grey wolf), a black wolf would also suit Gunter, visually speaking. in fact, I'd argue the form of a wolf probably fits Gunter better than a fox, just by sheer size. also wolves tend to have this looming nature to them, which definitely feels like Gunter, between his stature, gravity, and critical eye. one almost cannot help but envision him as a lone wolf too, given the role he plays in his story (did I just make myself a little sad thinking about how he's a wolf who lost his pack, but doesn't realize he's found a new one? YES........). not to mention there's an abundance of symbolic meanings for wolves (everything from being uncontrollable forces of nature to loyalty/protection).

3. Great Grey Owl

THIS CHOICE IS FOR ME FIRST AND OTHERS SECOND........ I'm just so smitten by the similarities between Gunter and great grey owls. visually I'm not sure if there's another animal out there which embodies him so well. the combined darker/lighter grey feathers at what would be the inner corner of their eyes which resemble wrinkles but also makes it seem like you're being observed intensely. their sheer size and wingspan as they fly through the air feels very reminiscent to me of when Gunter lands a critical hit in FE14. also the fact that they have such excellent hearing and this makes them good hunters when it comes to diving for prey buried in the snow.......... it calls to my mind how Gunter probably heard every little thing that went on at the Northern Fortress. welcome great grey owls to my list of animal hyperfixations.

4. Scorpion [Wildcard]

Secondly, I was intrigued to your blog by way of the subway twins fanart and I really liked how you adapted their cartoonist hair into a more realistic style. That said I would like to inquire how would you adapted drayden's design ( specifically hid beard) into your style? If it wouldn't be much bother of course!
