Snow pictures from around #Leicester #Newwalk
Sunset captured in Leicester, England.
The cold sky
We have had some snow in Leicester here are some pictures I captured of the snow.
Cool Smoke Photography
Here I set up a black background and placed an incense stick 1 meter away from the background. The desktop lamp was positioned to the side of the incense stick and the flash was positioned on the other side. Two pieces of card were placed on the flash to accurately direct the light to the smoke from the incense.
Camera settings were:
ISO:100
Aperture: F8-F11
Shutter: 1/160
Flash set to 1/2 power. (all this with the lights off, desktop lamp on)
Tools used:
1xdesktop lamp
1xflash
1xwireless flash trigger
1xDSLR
1xDSLR lens
1x black background
1x incense stick
Some elastic bands and card board.

A Picture of the moon through my bedroom window at 4am on 27 December 2012.
I used single point focus to measure the amount of light in order to set the the correct shutter speed. Got this shot at ISO 100, F/8, and the focal length was 300mm (handheld).
The equipment used:
Nikon D3200
Tamrom 70-300mm lens with VC (vibration control)
Editing:
I cropped in as close as possible (To avoid noise) and increased the clarity and contrast to give the best results.
Love your blog. :)
Thank you very much
Here is a picture I captured of the Moon (handheld) with my Nikon D3200 combined with my Tamron SP AF 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di VC USD. It was a little tricky to the get the shot right because it was very dark outside. I had to read the light meter in the camera while focusing on the moon (single point focus) and adjust aperture/shutter speed/ISO to get it to balance. I believe the white specs are stars (unless I have a really dirty sensor). 1/640 ISO 1600 f5.6 300mm
Some picture's I took using my #Nikon D3200 and #Tamron 24-75mm (2.8) lens. Was a cold and damp morning and came across a spider web which had built up water droplets through the night.
Instagrams new photomap security flaw
#Instagram new update to #photomap leaves users giving the location of their photos away. Most users click yes as default. #security issue, any photos taken at home on photomap gives away where you live to the street or road.

Olympic torch relay in Leicestershire (2012)
On my way home from work I saw a gathering of people on London Road, I assumed while sitting at my desk at work that I had missed the relay, but to my surprise I still had time to get home and grab the camera (Nikon D3200). A once in a lifetime opportunity to the torch being relayed in our home country, I hesitated not.
Lighting conditions were very poor, I think I used ISO 200/400. I used my Nikkor 18-105 mm lens which allowed me to get in close. If only we actually had the weather of July, the pictures would have looked better. As I wanted mostly everything in focus I chose f5.6 as my aperture, I could not go any smaller as I needed all the light I could get as well as keep everything in focus. The atmosphere was great, Leicester's diverse multicultural community gathered to see the event with no trouble whatsoever. The pictures were taken while standing in the middle of the road on London Road, Leicester. Directly outside Richer Sounds.
