Doodle the Pikachu

“Stop! Stop!! you stupid rodent!”

Peachy smirked, digging her tiny teeth further into florges ear, rapidly swinging through the air as she tried to throw her off.

“Y-You got me! You can let go now!” Daisy snorted, and finally Peachy released her grip and fell backwards onto the floor. She poked her tongue out triumphantly.

“And that’s how you take down a pokemon three times your size!”

“Is that what you say to all the girls you attack?”

“Depends how cute they are.”

Daisy snorted. “You’re such a dork, you know that right?”

Peachy turned herself back up right “You love me really.”

“Yea, yea,” Daisy pressed her nuzzle against Peachy cheek, welcoming the prickle of static. Peaches gave a little squeak, enjoying her girlfriend’s touch, before settling herself against her side, burrowing in to make herself a nest against her warm body.

Peachy sat watching the sunset in front of her. The forest looked beautiful at this time of day, especially in this small clearing they’d found, a small heaven for both of them: few pokemon seemed to know about this spot, the only ones being the occasional fletchling flying overhead, probably heading south for the winter. Though the air was nippy, the warm rays of the setting sun and the feeling of Florges coat against her own meant she barely noticed.

Things were just perfect, perfect in this moment, just the way they were. It seemed like right there and then, they were frozen in time, in this perfect setting. Nothing seemed to change, nothing needed to change. Everything was peaceful

Minutes, maybe hours passed, she wasn’t really sure. Peachy looked up at her girlfriend. Her eyes seemed to twinkle, staring across the clearing in the same direction she was, though seemingly lost in thought, not really paying attention. She didn’t seem to flinch at Peachy’s sudden movement, or even when she looked directly up at her. She cleared her throat.

“Daisy?”

“Mmm?”

“Whatcha thinkin about?”

Daisy paused, continuing to look out across the clearing, Peachy still listening attentively. She sighed.

“Peachy....This is gonna sound really dumb.”

“I’ll understand perfectly then.”

Daisy snorted, causing Peachy to grin.

“You know you can tell me.”

“I know I know,” Daisy sighed. “It’s just....”

Peachy listened closely. Daisy opened and closed her mouth a few times, before finally speaking.

“Have....Have you ever had a dream...?”

“Oh sure, there was that one where I was chasing my tail, then the other one where I found that massive lake and went swimming, and don’t even get me started on that one with the pansa-”

“No, you dingus, not that kind of dream,” Daisy snickered, feigning annoyance. “Like...about something you want, something perfect. You dream about it and then you wish it were true and you want to try and make it come true”

Peachy frowned, “don’t you like it here?”

“Of course I do, it’s just....” Daisy hesitated, biting her lowerlip.

“Have you ever heard of contests?”

Peachy blinked “Uuuh...like....an eating contest?”

“No, but...kind of? I guess? It’s where these pokemon, they go on this big stage, and they show off all of these moves and whichever one is the prettiest wins and everyone claps and they celebrate and it’s really big and cool...”

"...Why would anyone do that?”

“For fun! You get to look all pretty too! And they give you a ribbon and you go to all these different places across the region and earn as many as you can- ”

“How...How do you know about all of this stuff?”

Daisy fidgeted, “I...I don’t know, I just know that I know...” she looked towards Peachy “doesn’t it sound amazing though? Wouldn’t you like to do that some day?”

Daisy was finally looking directly her, and Peachy gazed back. Truthfully, this whole thing seemed silly, why would anyone want to do that sort of thing? What’s the point in it? Moves are meant for battling anyways, she’d never heard of anyone using them to look pretty....But there was something in Daisy’s eyes, and the cute excited smile, her pricked little ears, that made it hard for her to tell the truth.

“Yeah...Yeah I guess I would.”

“Yeah?”

“Y-Yeah!” Peachy jumped to her feet, trying to lift the mood again “I mean, there can be duo acts, right? We could totally do that together!”

Daisy beamed, regaining her excitement, “Yeah! They do!” She leapt up as well, bouncing with excitement at the opportunities ahead of her, “we’ll be so great! Travelling kalos, performing across the region. We’ll get so many ribbons!”

“Yeah!” Peachy nodded, not really sure what to add. I suppose it didn’t really matter, so long as they were together.

“Oh! We should practice our routine!” Daisy bounced further out into the opening “Your sweet kiss will definitely come in handy, and it’ll look super cute with my aromatherapy! C’mon, let’s give things a go!”

Peachy nodded, following just behind Daisy into the clearing’s centre. This wasn’t exactly what she’d hoped their future would be. She’d rather just stay here, but it’s not like it’s going to happen, anyways. Maybe they’ll be able to put on a cute little show for the rest of the forest...but the chances of them travelling ALL of Kalos?
