Nerd was sick of it. He still remembers the simpler times where being bored was a rarity, and friends were always easily in reach. Now? Oh, his life had been destroyed and the fragments left were kept caged inside his own home! In his misery, he gave up calling himself a Hat and a hero.
This damsel in distress role was disgusting. He wanted to do something. In fact, he had tried. Many, many times. His doctor always seemed to catch up on this, calling Nerd insane or ill everytime he had to drag the eldritch away from people. Nerd wasn't either of those things, his hopes about escaping were beginning to dwindle.
That made him angry. Yet, the pacifist didn't want to engage in any sort of combat. He just wanted to leave. Didn't care that his house legally belonged to him, he wasn't allowed to care for it and Kenneth had let it decay from the outside in. It was depressing, the house looked straight out of a horror film. Does it help there's a dark enchanted forest just in the backyard...? Maybe.
Considering said forest has a multidimensional portal, a natural and unpredictable phenomenon. Nerd was preparing to take the risk. He didn't know if it would take him somewhere better, or somewhere worse. At the moment, he didn't care. Staying inside and isolated, cornered under his exemployee's thumb, this long was maddening.
The prey eldritch packed up an old shoulder bag from his school days. Inside it were several packages of cold pancakes, spare clothes, bandages and salves galore, and under all that was his prized recipe box. Nerd couldn't leave home without his pancake recipes. Not that this place was much of a home anymore.
The paint was stale, redecorating only made the air smell terrible. Sleeping all day lost its appeal. Slug wouldn't dare allow him to make more than two batches of pancakes at a time unless it's for one of those huge events...Art could only push his never ending boredom so far, running wasn't allowed ever. The sunshine from. The sunroom didn't feel like real sunlight even though he could blatantly stare right into that gaseous mass of fire clearly from that room.
And... boss? Oh, wicked and cruel as ever. If he was caught leaving, there would definitely be some broken bones involved. That is why, after studying Kenneth's routine, Nerd planned to leave just as soon as his 'boss' went downstairs to check on his other live experiments.
Sneaky little rabbit, he is. Very smart boi, it took a lot of patience and planning to get so far as one foot out the door. And when he was finally outside? Oh, it was exhilarating! The fresh air, the smell of wild grass and flowers that aren't dead by Slugfall's touch! If only he could stay here and relish this sense of freedom a little more...
Adrenaline and fear were at play, here, too. It would take several months to get out of 1D10T should he get caught... Casts weren't all that fun. So Nerd definitely had motive to break yet another rule and run. Ran as fast as he could until it felt like he'd just breezed by a curtain.
Ah, the familiar feeling of passing through a portal. He slowed to a stop,holding the strap of his shoulder bag. The rabbit eldritch looks around, and what does he find...?
