Guardian Jack, at your Service!

Because…

Jack says that he’s been trying to “bust in” to North’s workshop for years. This tells us several things:

He has never been invited before. Being kidnapped and taken there because of newfound Guardianshp is probably the FIRST time he has ever been invited.

He has WANTED to be there, likely because of his LONELINESS.

He was probably forcibly evicted by the Yetis each time, hence the “bust in” and “never got past the Yetis.” He probably got more and more desperate/gutsy each time seeing as how he wasn’t allowed in no matter what he tried.

North doesn’t even know that he’d tried, signaling that Jack was never high enough on North’s radar to notice.

So with all of this, can anyone really blame Jack for being so wary and reluctant to accept Guardianship? Some might say that his loneliness should push him to jump at the chance, but Jack has been alone and thrown out for three hundred years. For the past three hundred years, North and the other Guardians wanted absolutely nothing to do with him, to the point where North didn’t even know that Jack tried busting into his workshop, just to have somewhere nice and warm to hang out for awhile—just to have some form of company. But he wasn’t welcome, he was kicked out, and when you’re kicked out and rejected enough times, you come to be wary of just about any change. You really can’t blame Jack for thinking that the Guardians would end up just kicking him out again, and he probably doesn’t want to get too close for fear of getting hurt.
