Instead, he kissed me. Like I was food and he was starving. Like he’d been waiting his whole life for that one moment. Like that breathless moment when you tear back the wrappings and open the box and fold back the tissue on a gift and finally see what it is and realize you’ve been given everything you’ve ever wanted. It was brutal and raw and desperately hungry. It was everything a kiss ought to be and seldom is.

It…it dragged me, kicking and hissing and spitting….out of the shadows that were my refuge and my prison….and into the light. And…. *he hunches his shoulders and looks distinctly uncomfortable* And….he’s the light.
