Special Agent Donald Ressler

OOC: While the RP group may have been around for many years, I've only been the Ressler RP since September 2020. It wasn't very long, but long enough to see how much fun RP could be when you love the character you're portraying. I followed in the footsteps of the first Ressler RP who did it wonderfully for many years, and then the second one, and finally I was the most recent.

I love Donald Ressler, and what he's about, who he is, what he feels and thinks, and have written many, many fanfics about him. Doing the RP was simply a different way of telling his story. Of being that character and inside his head. And I really got to enjoy it. i wasn't in it long enough to do a full AU event, but it was still fun.

But... following the events of 822, and the way our show was utterly ruined, I no longer have the heart to do the RP. All the fun has gone out of it. I feel like I'm mourning the loss of something that has been incredibly important to me for 8 years, and it's all been thrown away.

So, along with most of the other RP's, I am stepping back from the RP, and just taking stock of what The Blacklist means to me at this time. I still adore Donald Ressler, and I always will. I just love the man and can't fathom how he can ever find happiness in his life.

Thank you to everyone who sent him questions and comments. It was fun. But for now, the AskDonaldRessler account will follow in Ressler's footsteps, steal Red's whisky, and walk away.

Not that it’s anyone’s business, but Navabi was just hurt I’d fired her, and Liz didn’t have any complaints.

Now that I’ve had time to process it, my gut feeling is that I wish I could have done more and helped her so that it never reached this point. If we’d got to the park before @askraymondredreddington​ killed her mother, this wouldn’t have turned out this way.

But now @askelizabethscottkeen has gone off to who knows where. We are now tasked with finding her, but it’s not that simple. @askagentarammojtabai and I already proved how our feelings are compromising our decisions in that regard.

I care about her, and I’m worried for her safety, and that we might not find her in time before someone who means her harm catches up with her. 

Well, she didn’t ‘use me’ for the, uh, overnight part. That was consensual between us and both of us knew full well what she was saying when she wanted to spend the night and ‘rest’. Both of us wanted that.

And I dunno, I like to think I aided her, even while she was ‘using me’ to tell me which train station she was at. Why did I choose then to come clean to @askagentarammojtabai that she had called me (again)? Because I had already told her Agnes was at the Post Office, and if I’m honest, I knew she’d misdirect us and take the opportunity to retrieve her little girl.

So yeah, she did use me to get the task force out of the office, but I let it happen and I’m surprisingly good with that. @askharoldcooper asked us what it felt like to have aided @askelizabethscottkeen in taking $35m off @askraymondredreddington. So this was similar. Helping Liz get Agnes felt therapeutic too.

Hey, well, between you and this bottle of scotch, I’m still working out how I feel.... I’m torn. I care very much for Liz, and she’s made it clear she cares for me. So when we kissed, it felt right and natural. But she knows me, and I know her, so when she took my gun I was annoyed at myself, yet I understood where she was coming from. I will trust and believe in her, and be here for her as always. But I went through angry, pleading, calm, annoyed, then depressed in the space of two minutes...

Yeah, I see what you did there. It is waterproof, so we’re all good.

Oh yeah, because I’m sure that will have such great effect. 

Right? I mean, we’ve had a guy stewing people to death, but yeah, it’s pretty mundane around here.

Well, let’s see, we’ve had a guy killing people with live bugs inside them, men giving birth to babies, people frozen like popsicles, and a giant hunting people in Alaska.... But interesting? Yeah, nothing comes to mind...

I think she’s very young! She kinda reminds me of who I used to be, back when I was so by the book. Back before I ever heard of @askraymondredreddington​... I think she’s already proven herself a capable agent, reminds us often of just how far down the rabbit hole we’ve come, and will be an asset to the team.
