Did any aspects of the queer community (or whatever it was called) frustrate you during the Age of Legends?
I was very good at avoiding things that frustrated me, so Iâm probably not even aware of all the issues that existed... And they must have existed; people were still people, and people can be really flaming petty at times. The lack of systematic discrimination didnât mean that everybody accepted everybody on a personal level.
I suppose the one thing that I encountered the most, that really ticked me off, was other queer people taking it upon themselves to call me out for âperpetuating harmful stereotypesâ because I was bisexual* and sleeping around. How about mind your own bloody business.
(* I use bi- instead of pansexual though I donât personally differentiate between the two or have particularly strong feelings about the topic. I wonât be offended if you call me pansexual; I wonât be offended if you use bisexual in a different sense with regards to yourself; I will be offended if you presume to define what bisexuality should mean for me.)
Who do you admire most?
This is a difficult question to answer for a few reasons. I admire certain qualities in a lot of people, such as my âfellowâ Chosen, people I used to know back in what you call the Age of Legends, and even people Iâve come across in this Age. But none of these people are, at the same time, so free of qualities I find distasteful or inferior in some way, or just plain sad, that I could point out any one person I admire the most.
If you want a really cliched answer, which is nonetheless true, I admire anyone who can balance success and happiness while being true to themselves.
