"That’s Berriville up ahead. My family rarely makes port there, but we might get lucky and find them. Though…" she paused to pull a map from her cleavage hammerspace. "Probably we will have to find them on a route a ways south from here. As I understand it, we must visit the places we went to in the Spell. We’ll take the Gingerbread Pass through Jack-O-Pie Corner and it should set us close to our first checkpoint, where I met the other royal couple. Then Toffee Town is next… up here, see? Aaaand we made port in the seaside Nerd’s Coastal Village out this way… then had to stop neat the Jungle Track for repairs. Goodness, that’s a lot to cover.”

"Let's get back in the car and hurry along, dear. We have a lot of ground to cover."

"Ren… nnnn… it’s time to get up. We’ll be onshore soon."

The Queen clapped her hands sleepily and cut the light for the evening. Everything would be fine. Surely they could save the memories in time and her family would be happy to see them both.

It was hard to tell if she was speaking aloud to herself or to Ren. She knew how ridiculous it sounded, almost childish. She was a fully grown woman, and had she not felt quite so guilty, she would never have brought vocals to her thoughts.
