It is a pretty good partner, Lee must admit. He doesn’t doubt it’d be even better if it actually, you know, liked him. But beggars can’t be choosers.
Praises are quite nice. Patronizing, but nice. He almost wants to actually listen. Of course spite is much more fun, so he won’t, but it’s not out of mind… He would do anything with enough persuasion.
It said something, Lee wasn’t really paying attention. He turned back with a slight confused noise. He didn’t get a reply.
… or it said something about that, anyway. He turned to the front once more, ignoring the implications. He thinks about Sammy.
Gods, how did he fuck it up that bad? Here he was, a man who loved Lee despite all of his flaws and issues and red flags. Was he guilty about that? Yes, of course he was. He never failed to tell Seabury he should find someone better, that he deserved better. He would deny it, of course. Lee was the only one he wanted for some reason.
Then Eelqp came along, fucked everything up. The blood, the maiming, the screaming… he wanted to help, he tried to help. He cared for his wounds as best he could, tries to keep their naive optimism that they’d be saved soon.
‘It’s a stupid joke, he’ll let us out soon enough.’
‘Something’s probably come up, he’ll be back.’
‘A few more days, they’re bound to find us soon.’
Soon soon soon. Always soon, never now. He was such a fool. Even now.
How he wishes he could go back in time. Go back to when they were young and naive. in love. Alive.
He’s not coming back. It was stupid to think he would. It was only a matter of time before Lee fucked up too much to repair. He said he wasn’t gonna leave, he said he’d always be here. Well whoever he is, it sure as hell isn’t here.
Praising. Sweet, but out of character. He doesn’t think on it too much, and instead enjoys the temporary kindness. Pretends it’s Sam.
He let himself be pushed and moved around.he didn’t really care, and if he did there’s not much he can do. He isn’t fully there anyway.
Lee takes a hold of Rapio’s arm, littering bites across its hand and wrist. He’s more vocal now, not really caring about what he does much anymore.
He keeps going: faster, sloppier. He’s close, god he’s close, he knows it so. Just a bit more, he just needs a bit more…
relief and respite flood through Lee at the release. He’s still a bit melancholy, but it’s mostly numbed over for the moment
