Brian Epstein on holiday in the 50s (i think?)
Brian Epstein and Andrew Loog Oldman in 1965
GM: You dedicate the book [Stone Free] to Brian Epstein. You did public relations for The Beatles in ’63 and gained first-hand perspective of Epstein’s style and talents. Did his training as an actor further sharpen his skills in terms of understanding presentation?
ALO: He was an awful actor! I never saw him act, but just look at how much of a nervous tither he was in hosting “Hullabaloo!” But he was a great manager. He was devoted to The Beatles. He would kill for them. He could be quite tough. He represented his act 24/7.
-> Andrew Loog Oldham interview by Goldmine Magazine about his new book Free Stone on September 27, 2014
my biggest heartbreak will forever be that I’ll never be able to meet Brian. You mean to tell me I’ll have to live, get old and all that to just never be able TO MEET BRIAN EPSTEIN???
“I saw him with tears in his eyes when he saw the Fab Four a lot, but those were tears of joy,”
— Derek Taylor

I’m assuming the left one is Brian
→ Brian, unknown, John, Paul (from left to right)
I also think that this photo is from their time in Miami, first US tour, February, 1964.
For Brian and the Beatles, the Far East tour had been a great strain, Never again, the Beatles and Epstein chorused. Brian immediately cancelled a visit to the Philippines by Cilla Black. At a 6.30 a.m. press conference at London Airport, John Lennon confessed that he had been petrified and George Harrison said they had been subjected to Gestapo-like tactics. Back at his Chapel Street house, Brian paid the price of his mounting worries: a rash covered his body and it was diagnosed as glandular fever.
The doctor said it would be about two weeks before he could travel.
Epstein first phoned Nat Weiss to postpone a visit to New York, where he was to coordinate the forthcoming tour by the Beatles. Brian was disappointed: he loved the prospect of organizing American tours.
It was safe territory with lots of friends, and Beatlemania. “What’s glandular fever?” asked Weiss. “Oh, here we call that mononucleosis.” Repeating the word to his secretary, Brian told her to use it officially to British people who inquired about him. “It sounds most impressive!”

Brian Epstein, circa 1964 (I think)
-> if it was up to me, I would say this is in Amsterdam, perhaps on 5th/6th June, 1964. This is because of (obviously) the bikes, tulips and the stoop.
-> I’m dutch myself, that is why this is my guess but please, do tell me if you know exactly where it is!!! I would love to know.

“They were fresh and they were honest, and they had star quality. Whatever that is, they had it, or I sensed that they had it.”
