DAILY DEVO: (Part 3 of 3) When it comes to the kind of people you’re around on a daily basis, of course you don’t always have total and absolute control over who you are around. However, you do have absolute control over how you to choose to respond and react. Perhaps you’re working at a job or you’re in a position where you’re constantly around people who have allowed negativity to plague their lives. Maybe you’re around people who don’t know Jesus or have a completely different set of moral standards from you. Perhaps you’re even dating or you’re best friends with this person. Today’s passage is a reminder to walk with the wise. It’s important to surround yourself with like-minded people who are headed in the same direction as you. The reason why this is important when it comes to your confidence is because quite frankly, other people can wear you down. No matter how much you feel like you can brush off the words or actions of others, eventually something or someone is going to get to you. Even Jesus was betrayed, and then beaten and tortured to the death of the cross–and He did nothing wrong! So surely, no matter how much we wish we could avoid it, we cannot control how others act and what they say. However, we can choose to also surround ourselves with people who–even though they are not perfect–are living their lives on a mission to be more like Christ and are living their lives with His eternal love in mind. It’s important that when you’re surrounded by people or situations that you feel are draining you that you first and foremost, go to the Lord about it and secondly, surround yourself with people who live to please the Lord and not man, and will encourage and hold you accountable in doing so. It makes all the difference! The people you choose to surround yourself with can make huge differences in your life, so choose wisely, and be led by the Lord in doing so! - @itsmorganlife
