Starting from me, I have,

5. Igarashi Kota (Scandal in the Spotlight)

Even though I was hesitant at first from the title, I decided to proceed with him after reading his description. But it was way much better than expected. Kota is a genius. He can memorise lines in a go. An amazing idol and actor. One may feel at start that he is a cold and aloof character, but knowing his past and struggles will make your thinking go through a 180 degree flip. He is bad in expressing his feelings, that’s why described as a cat. (When you try to be close to him, he will shove you away with his claws, but if you don’t, he will slowly approach you)  His personality softens when he meets MC. When it came to confession in last chapter, it was really amazing. I loved how he helped MC to not depend on others. Also, extremely cute when blushes. Pfftt…

4. Kyogoku Sentaro (Romance MD: Always on Call)

An amazing pediatrician, member of EICU and a black hearted liar. Expert in his career, an amazing surgeon at the age of 31 only. Appears to to super friendly to talk to, but wait and watch. Dedication towards Kasumi? Pfft, no. His high level teasing nature interested me. I have played Kasumi’s main route, and I absolutely loved his becoming a volcano out of jealousy, throwing ridiculous jokes on MC and what not. But, his backstory and the struggles he went through will enthrall you. I am guessing, even though he appears like that from outside, he must be sensitive from his inner side. If time permits someday, I will definitely go though his super happy ending route.

3. Maruyama Takao (My Forged Wedding)

A random recommendation I got. He is different from the general otome characters, but his realistic nature is what interested me. A professional attorney in Law Firm, along with having sweet pinch of homely nature. When MC’s marriage with her first so called fiancé gets called off before meeting with her parents, Takado pretends to be her fiancé and they start living together. As a friend, he slowly mends MC’s broken heart, and gradually falls in love with her.  In a chapter, there arises some severe problems to him and he even gets ready to break up with MC for protecting her. What I liked here is his support towards her to continue her favorite hobby as her job, and the warm moment and time they spend every morning, making traditional breakfast and nutritional shake. What a peaceful life, it’s simple, realistic and that’s why more appealing.

2.Hidaka Ayato (My Last First Kiss)

A top actor of Japan with extra-ordinary acting skills. This character. I was amazed with how much he supports MC(even if you don’t choose his path). She and he are childhood friends, and had studied together till high school. MC had a crush on someone, but when she gets rejected, he comes by to her support. And this happens two times. To cheer her up, all her friends along with Ayato gather together, just like best buddies. Ayato even helps her to become an ideal woman for finding a boyfriend by training her, going on dates with her, shopping for her and so on. That just showed how much he cares for her as a best friend. Slowly, this blossoms to love. The bonds of friendship, reunion and happiness through it shines through this story.

1.  Kasumi Toshiki (Romance MD: Always on Call)

A genius cardiovascular surgeon, head of EICU, chief of medicine and a prodigy. In the start, he appears to be unapproachable, with a cold and intimidating aura. But beneath that lies a sensitive soul which he has encapsulated in the walls. What makes him get to the top of my list is the amount of inspiration he gives in his as well as in other character’s routes, the support and faith he slowly builds in MC, the urge to protect her when he realizes he has fallen for her, and the extent of sacrifices he is ready to make for the ones he loves and holds dear.  He cares for all the characters equally. Also, even after some arguments and misunderstandings, he always appears to be calm, and that is only for MC’s sake. That is a unique thing I observed in his route. In the story, a little misunderstanding occurs in a certain chapter, and this guy even prepares himself to give up on her and just support her from behind. (T^T) I have many posts about his character analysis, story briefings and so on, so I will not write much here. In a sentence, he is a delicate cinnamon roll as well as a sublime surgeon, dark prince and an angel.

I did something like this some days ago, but it was a little bit different. If anyone is interested and wants look at it, there’s the link. To not repeat myself, I’ll say things I didn’t mention prior.

So, there’s my top 5 Voltage Inc. characters.

5. Takado Munechika (Romance MD: Always On Call)

I love his sense of humor, how he always can crack a joke to lift MC’s mood, even if it’s not in his route. He is a caring man in general, no wonder he is such an amazing doctor. Takado takes into consideration everything before making a decision. And even if he is so weird and funny, he still is very serious about things that matter.

4. Hideki Ishigami (Her Love In The Force)

He is the type of guy I always fall for in games. Behind his strong and emotionless demeanor lays a very caring and sweet man. I think he is one of the most supporting Voltage characters. When MC had problems with studying, with accepting everything the job inquires, with mental health, he was always there to help her and to give her the confidence to make the right decision for herself.

3. Toshiaki Kijima (Irresistible Mistakes)

He is the first Voltage character I liked and ‘Irresistible Mistakes’ is the game that brought me into Voltage Inc. universe. I know that a lot of people aren’t fond of ‘dead girlfriend’ trope, but it doesn’t bother me. It was executed very well in his story. And he has such a good character development. From an aloof and rough boss, he becomes a sweet and caring boyfriend. And his last season is brilliant. Every girl deserves to be treated with so much respect as he treats MC.

2. Toshiki Kasumi (Romance MD: Always On Call)

I have only one question: Does anyone, who has read his story, didn’t like him? Is it even possible? Even in literature is hard to make believable characters, but Voltage managed to create him. He has struggles, he has emotions, he cries, he can fall apart. It’s rare to see an otome character who can show their weak side, but he does it. It’s easier to understand someone when you can see their emotions and when they want to see yours. And he is so sweet. He has a childish part in himself that is able to make everyone melt. (P.S. I’m still trying to see where’s his demon part. Kids, let’s help Kamyru find in what part of Kasumi sleeps the devil.)

1. Jun Araki (Irresistible Mistakes)

Unlike Kasumi, I heard that Jun is the kind of character that you can either hate, or love. And I’m in the second team. He is a big boss. He has his evil side. He is prone to misjudgments and prejudice. But the thing that I like the most in him is the contrast of his personality when he is at work and when he is with MC. He can scold her in front of everyone, to say that if she wants to quit, that she can quit and at the end of the day, he’ll be the one to say MC that she doesn’t have to feel guilty that someone is a bad person, he’ll save her even if it puts in danger his job and projects. Though, he is so specific, that in real life he’ll be nearly unbearable.

So my top 5 Voltage inc characters. Hmm... That’s a tough one. When I was new on the app I had a bunch of characters I was interested in that I might have been able to rank in this kinda thing easier but now. Now there is this ONE guy who’s completely taken over and left everyone else behind in the dust to the point that I haven’t really invested all that much in finding any other. I still read new routes every now and then, but none have managed to move my heart the way THAT guy does. So yeah, I can’t make this list a top 5 because I don’t have 5 guys to rank, so I’ll make it a top 3, hope its okay. Anyway here I go:

My top 3 voltage characters:

3. Okita Soji (Era of Samurai, Code of Love)

Soji is the guy who made me download the app in the very first place. Back then I had this crazy obssesion with Soji Okita in general, I dug around for every anime, manga, otome game, basically anything that had an Okita in it. It was something about this strong guy who would later inevitably have to bow down to sickness  and show a vulnerable side that intrigued me something awful (Yeah, Im weird). It made for an interesting character plot I had rarely seen before. This Okita followed the general setup from the Okita’s before him (Hakuouki, Peacemaker Kurogane, Kaze Hikaru, etc) the outwardly teasing, childish and playful guy who hid a demonic murderer within. Or at least that’s what he makes you think, in reality he is actually a genuinely sweet and caring person with a vulnerable side. He was my number one. But in hindsight I realise that my Okita obssesion blinded my judgement somewhat back then. Nothing wrong with him, I just realised over time that he’s not quite my type. But he still makes the list as one of the few guys I actually invested a lot of time in. 

2.  Kasumi Toshiki (Romance MD, Always On Call)

Kasumi is a really fascinating character to me. Chief of medicine and head of the Eicu. Ice cold yet also burning hot. In the routes that came before his he is shown to be a taciturn, chilly and distant person. So chilly that his subordinates nearly jump out of their skins the second he turns their way. And yet he clearly has something vulnerable hidden beneath his cold gaze. As you get to know him through his route (and other routes too) you realise his kindness and ability to love. Its amazing how he switches gears so quickly without making it weird, from chilly, to warm, from sad to playful. He’s a guy with many sides to him. The depth he has is pretty rare in 2d guys, Voltage really managed to create a one of a kind with this guy. Hats off to them for that. 

1. Takado Munechika (Romance MD, Always On Call)

Now this stupidly, adorkably, tsundere, grumpy teddy bear. Dr Takado. My number one by a loooong shot. Not even the dark emperor can trump this guy in my heart. Initially when I first stumbled upon him I wasn’t exactly hyped. I debated for a long time if it was worth investing time in the new hospital title with 30 looming chapters which was love choice to boot. But I decided to give it a chance, and I’m so glad I did. He didn’t come of as much in the beginning but as I kept reading, all of Takado’s wonderful qualities came to light. He’s unlike any otome guy I‘ve ever seen before. Takado is foulmouthed, brash and sometimes so honest he comes off as rude. But he is also unbelievably kind, understanding and actually very humble. Now on the surface these traits aren’t anything new to anyone in the otome world. But Takado has something special about him that moves my heart just right. Its something about his brutal honesty and way of treating his mc. The way he adjusts to her quirks without compromising his own,  the way he always makes sure to check with mc for consent before making a move. The way he doesn’t patronize her doubts or rush her decisions in their relationship to speed things up, the way he handles being her loving boyfriend and hardass preceptor with such casualness. Even outside his own route he continues to shine. When he isn’t mcs boyfriend he is her secretly protective and supportive older brother. This is the sort of guy that I would love to meet in real life. (But being a hikikomori thats unlikely to happen).
