Battle Born

He smiled at her comment about his name and he nodded, "So I've been told. Not many have met a Hollis before." He grinned, "I hope I make a good impression for all the other Hollis' out there for you." As she shook his hand, he immediately shook hers back before bringing it back to him, folding them together, "It really does suit you. They weren't wrong." He commented, nodding. His eyes widened when she suddenly got up and wandered off to get something. The male just sat there, looking around there diner until she returned. Much to his surprise, she came back with a coffee for him, some additivies and a plate. This Maddison sure was kind. He was honestly expecting nothing but cruelty when there so he was glad he was being proven wrong. As she split her sandwich and fries, he just smiled, "Thank you..." He sighed, "Are you sure you want to share this though...?" Hollis asked, looking her over, "It's a lot of food...and I don't think I'll ever be able to repay you..." And from what he thought, it probably wasn't good to be indebt to someone when a slave. His hands, regardless, wrapped around the coffee and he just took in the warmth, not yet drinking it. Not until he was sure.

“So are you telling me you’re insane?” she smiled, “I guess looks do deceive since you look so approachable and stuff,” she smirked, flipping her hair over her shoulder and looking over to him, noting his sigh, “tough night, sugar high?”

He smiled, "Quite contrary. I may be the only sane one in this town." Considering he believed slavery was illegal and wanted nothing to do with it, he believed he was correct. He took another sip of his bland tea and looked up to the woman when she questioned him. He couldn't help but chuckle dryly and shrugged his shoulders, "Tough lifetime." He told her. It wasn't like being a slave was going to improve for him. He doubted he would ever free himself or that someone would actually free him.

He came closer and Alexis watched as the man got the sugar she indicated to and brought it to her. Once he set it down, Alexis picked them up and started to empty them into her coffee to give it just another level. She gave a grunt of a response but when he asked about the coffee, she looked up at the slave. “Bland is putting it kindly. I’ve had to really fix it.” Once the sugars were emptied into the drink, she took a sip and smiled at the combination of the sweetness and the slight burn of the alcohol. “Much better.” 

His blue eyes watched as she dumped the sugar into the coffee and seemed to enjoy it much more now. The male smiled in the slightest and nodded his head, "I understand." He chuckled and picked up the twenty packets of sugar he dumped into into his tea, "Normally, I wouldn't put this many but it's really just hot water with accent of tea leaf." There was no doubt about that. The male fell silent for a bit before he cleared his throat and spoke, "I'm Hollis. It's nice to meet you." He offered the woman with a friendly smile.

David smiled shyly in a relief and took a seat looking around. “Pretty busy, but I’ve gone on completely ignored.” He huffed, rubbing his eyes and stifling a yawn as he shook his head. “I thought this whole being a slave thing would be easy, but it seems like every person I go to isn’t interested. You have any luck?” The boy wolf asked with a tilt of his head. 

His head tilted in confusion when the other spoke, "Isn't that what you want?" Hollis asked. He much preferred to be ignored. Especially in their circumstances. As the other continued, he got that much more confused. He thought being a slave would be easy? Where in history was that ever the case? His brow quirked in the slightest and he shook his head, "No... Thankfully. I don't want to draw any unneeded attention to myself." It was why he took a seat and didn't look around at anyone.

“Not that I was watching you or anything, but in Harry Potter, there’s a professor who puts about that much sugar in her tea….she died.” Carter laughed softly, “just kidding, but she did get arrested for hate crimes..”

Hearing a comment about his sugar and his tea, his lips pressed into a thin line and he couldn't help but laugh, "Only an insane person would put this many sugars in their tea so it makes sense, I suppose..." He grinned, chuckling a bit, "I don't think I'll be getting arrested any time soon though. Plus, I think that would be a step up." Hollis sighed lightly, his eyes glancing down his cuffs.

His eyes shifted around the diner as he nursed his bland tea, scoping out the situation. He wondered who was a human and who was a supernatural... And he wondered how different they were from humans. Clearly not much if he had been living amongst them for so long... Hollis' thoughts were shaken when he heard a voice and he turned to look towards them. He chuckled and nodded, "Almost. It still has that terrible leaf flavor...but a sweet leaf now." He joked, "I probably look crazy with all this sugar." Maybe he was...maybe this was all a crazy dream.

            Giselle was a human. Not only that, but a human who still believed that those story book creatures only lived in nightmares and horror flicks. She also was blind to the idea of slavery of any kind existing right before her eyes so when she saw a very handsome face sitting alone at the diner, she wouldn’t have known that he was off limits to commoners such as herself. She slid onto the cherry red bar stool next to his and let a few moments pass by. These moments were frames of her trying to muster up some good ice breaker that didn’t go something like ‘you’re hot’ or ‘I’ll give you twenty bucks if you marry me right now’ because those statements are completely normal to say to a complete stranger— right? She ordered a cup of tea herself. She wasn’t a fan of coffee because the bitter taste didn’t exactly enthuse her, “Careful— I don’t think you want to be jumping off walls by the end of the day.” She gestured to the amount of open sugar packets with a small smile.

Hollis was so lost in his own little world that he didn't even notice the person sit down next to him. He was just minding his own business and nursing his still bland tea when they spoke. His crystal blue hues shifted towards her and he smiled as he glanced towards the packets. He probably looked insane with that many sugars in it, "Maybe I'll be too hyped up to notice the taste then." He joked. She was lucky. She got to drink things that had flavor, "My name is Hollis." The male smiled, holding his hand out to her to shake.

David looked around looking desperately for a place to sit and relax, when he saw a man who looked just as uncomfortable as him, walking over he gave the older man a timid smile and looked at the seat. “Hi, I’m David, could I sit down?” He asked.

Hollis was surprised by how many people were coming into the diner. And how many people ignored him. It was a bit upsetting, really. People wouldn't even look at him in the eye. Being a slave really changed peoples opinion on others, huh? Surprisingly, someone had approached him but immediately noticed he was a slave too. Poor kid. His head nodded, "Hi, David. Please, take a seat." He smiled and pushed the chair out with his feet, "Pretty busy in here today, huh?"

Alexis sat in the corner, her phone in her hand as it buzzed with text message after text message. Her own coffee had some alcohol in it, to spike it and give her some relief from the tension she always felt coiled up. Looking up, she noticed the man in the booth next to her and looked over him. He was a slave. “You.” She called to the man. “I need a few packets of sugar. Get some for me.” 

Just watched people come in and out of diner, getting some coffee and ran things to munch on before running out. His lips pressed into a thin line, wishing that he was back in Boston. He already missed it. At least there, he felt like he was home. And, not to mention, he wasn't a slave. His brow quirked when he heard a voice speak to him and his blue eyes turned towards her. She wanted sugar apparently. He simply smiled and nodded his head, grabbing some more packets from his little container on his table and passed them towards her, "Here you go." He spoke, "Is the coffee as bland as the tea?" Hollis asked.
