If there is ONE ship I will fight to the death for, it is them. 

Admittedly, I haven’t been very active on this site for over a year, and now that I’m back, I decidedly to go take a look at the Scorose hashtag. I was looking forward to seeing great artwork, graphics and fanfics from the time that I’d been gone, but I was surprised by what I had seen instead.

I remember before my hiatus, the Scorose tag was alive and full of enthusiastic shippers, but now, I see so much hate for this once popular next-gen ship. Posts that were tagged #scorose, sprouted nothing but disapproval and anger for this ship and it had apparently been because of The Cursed Child.

Some of you may be wondering whether or not I’ve read/seen The Cursed Child. The truth is, I haven’t, and I don’t intend to. After I’ve read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I’ve fully accepted that the series was over and this had been for case for many, many years. So many years, that I’d started being really fascinated by the Next Generation characters. 

I’ve been shipping Scorose for the last six years and the thing that I love so much about them, and the other Next-Gen characters, is that you get so much freedom with them. They can be whatever you want them to be, with just enough background information to make them unique. Over the years, the more fanfiction, graphics and fanart I’ve seen, the more captivated I was by this ship and I’d already fabricated my own version of Scorpius and Rose in my mind.

To me, The Cursed Child feels nothing more than a fanfiction. To me, the Harry Potter series ended at Deathly Hallows. I will not read The Cursed Child, and even if one day in the distant future, I decide to, I will not see it as Canon. This play “sets to stone” these next generation characters and to me, it ruins the very reason why I loved them so much in the beginning. 

From the things that people have told me, I also find it very unbelievable that Rose would be depicted in such a way. I personally cannot believe that Ron and Hermione would be capable of raising such a child, and in my mind, I’ve always seen them as great parents who can be a role model to their children.

I have nothing but respect for JK Rowling and I’m not trying to disrespect her work in The Cursed Child, but to me, it doesn’t feel right, and for that, I choose not to read it. 

You are loved. 

Reach out to that support system of yours- maybe that means family, maybe it means friends. Call them, talk to them in person, do whatever you can do. You’ll be surprised by how much talking it out can help. 

There is no shame in getting help. 

Do something for yourself. Maybe it’s little, maybe it’s big. Take a mental health day, workout, go get some coffee or tea. Read your favorite book, watch a sitcom. Clean, take a shower, get work done. Take care of yourself. 

Your feelings are valid. 

There are always options, even when it feels like this is the be-all and end-all.

Things can change. Things will change. It won’t be consistent, there will be ups and downs. Through it all you are strong and beautiful.
