āThereās something we need to talk about. Donāt worry itās nothing bad.ā Deniz sighed, playing with the hem of her scarf as the wind started to pick up. Well at least she hoped he wouldnāt be upset by the news. Their relationship was still fresh, even though they had dated in the past. Back in their teen years they managed to do long distance, but this was different. They were adults now. With real jobs and real responsibilities. āI need to go to Peru for work after Christmas. For three to five weeks. Depending on how fast we progress and how authorities there accept and allow us to do our work.ā All the recent job offers she had gotten meant some time away from home, away from him. He would be gone longer when he was on tour, so she hoped he would be understanding and support her in this.Ā
āIāve learned that nothing that starts withĀ āthereās something we need to talk aboutā is good, but Iāll give you the benefit of the doubt Demir,ā he raised an eyebrow at her. It was evident from the sigh and the way that she fiddled with her scarf that the news wasnāt good either. He didnāt exactly know where this conversation was going, but he hoped it wasnāt the start of the end. He knew heād made mistakes recently- no, not mistakes, decisions, bad decisions, but he hoped that wasnāt what this was about. So when the news came, he was almost revealed, though that quickly diminished when he took in the words.Ā āOh,ā he nodded.Ā āI see. Well, itās part of your job and thatās the most important thing... and Iāll be here when you get back.ā The relationship was still new, he didnāt want to say the wrong thing or overstep, but he was happy that Deniz was prioritising work, like he had all those years ago.Ā
āOf course, if I could spend every day of my life with you I would, absolutely, but both of our jobs mean thatās not possible and I understand that, and if you miss me thatĀ much, you can always take a life size cutout of me with you- or you know, just facetime me like a normal person, though the cutout might be more fun,ā he joked.Ā
