Ash blinks in surprise at Ria’s sudden appearance. She didn’t expect someone to suddenly pop up in front of her.

“Oh, uh, hi..? How did you just… appear there?”

“Hi! I… don’t know. This has happened before, though, I think.” *Ria looks down, playing with her hands for a moment. This place isn’t safe. She shouldn’t be here.* “I’m Ria! Who’re you?”

“I’m Ash, it’s nice to meet you.”

She tries shaking the unsettled feeling away, taking a deep breath. It’s okay, the King isn’t here, just Ria. She doesn’t seem off like she did.

“Uhm… where am I? If it’s okay to ask?”

*She shakes her head.* “Nuh-uh. I… don’t think I’m supposed to be here, either…”

“I was gonna read Project Hail Mary, I heard it’s a really good book.”

Ash tilts her head a bit, humming. It’s a gesture that feels reminiscent of someone else.

*Ria’s ears twitch. She already knows — the Voices mentioned Avery and Derek. Maybe this is a world where they’re happy! If Ash grew up or lives around them, then it only makes sense that she’d be similar, right? She slow blinks at Ash in return, a little comforted by the familiarity. She likes Avery. So she likes the reminder of Avery, too.*

Ash thinks for a second, tapping her fingers against the book she holds idly.
