Wow! So magical. Where I wanna be
is this real!!!!!!!!
totes real. the lawns and fields around northfield looked like that this june. fireflies are making a rebound as pesticide use goes down!
This reminds me of being a little kid growing up in the country. Only thing missing is the sound of the crickets.
Iâve always wanted to see fireflies in real life.
I miss theseđ
I feel insane because I added the sound of crickets without even thinking to do it

Rising Stylecon Spotlight:Amonete
*A stylecon is a noun, defined as 1. A representation of reverence by virtue of embodiment of style and 2. A person with an uncanny eye for style. Those featured as rising Stylecons are chosen by Kashion and display the message of Styled By The Influence*
Todayâs rising Stylecon Spotlight is Ashanti Smith aka Amonete. Weâve been friends for years that met at the same middle school and both had an interest in fashion. Little did we know the paths we would take from high school to college, making our interest the center of our world and having soooo much in common/Â
Hereâs an Intro on the rising stylecon herself. Ashanti M. Smith , journalism major, marketing minor at the illustrious Hampton University. I am obsessed with Sex and the Cityâs Carrie Bradshaw so I also go by âthe Black Bradshawâ a name I created for myself dedicated to Carrie but spiced up like me. I am a writer so I love to write, particularly fashion and lifestyle articles. My fashion inspiration or as I like to call them âmuvasâ Solange and Rihanna , I donât have a store preference to shop, but thrifting is my favorite and I am OBSESSED with sunglasses. and Iâm a visual merchandiser at Forever 21 so of course most of my clothes come from there lol
I watch Ashantiâs talk on social media from the Hampton VS Howard debates and her thoughts on fashion influences. We talk here and there about makeup, our fashion icons, and girl bosses we love! Â Even her style is something I love oh so much. Itâs so versatile and fun. Itâs the right amount of girly and edgy for her to surprise you every time she gets dressed.
I see great things coming in her future and Iâm so happy to have a Girlboss in my city evolving, sharing my same hobbies and doing great things! Expect great things from Ashanti in the future, maybe even an Amonete Kashion collab? You never know lol  Keep up with Ashanti on her socials below!

The City of D R E A M S
Times Square, the Village, Soho, Central Park, Harlem and Manhattan are just a few of my favorite places in the dazzling city of New York, where dreams are made of. Â New York City is a place you either hate or love, and well for me--- I love it! Its empire state of mind and taxicab yellow lights light up my inner Carrie Bradshaw. New York is probably the most visited city on the northern region. Itâs Fashion, nightlife, art, theater and (last but certainly not least) its pizza of course! NYC is the heart of the world; itâs where everyone with a dream wants to be (myself included). Â Sadly, the city is entirely too big for just a one day visit. To actually enjoy and explore the city youâll need at least another decade. Â Now, a city the size of New York is a little pricey but donât fear coupons and deals are endless here. I have a few tips on how to save a few coins in the big apple. First off, the city is a great place to walk around. On Wednesdays, the Municipal Art Society offers a free tour of Grand Central Terminal and the Brooklyn Brewery offers free tours on Saturday as well. However in advance, Big Apple Greeters will actually pair you with a local New Yorker to show you around for the day (awesome right?). But thatâs not all; you canât visit NYC with out seeing a show on Broadway. Tickets alone could cost you a few hundreds of dollars, but donât worry there is a way to get tickets at a great price. The TKTS stand in Times Square offers almost 50% off select shows (you canât beat that). As for food, NYC has great food for an even greater price. Food carts, kebab places and as I mentioned before, you cannot visit the wonderful city of New York without getting a slice of pizza but not any of those fake New York pizza scammers. The real NYC pizza will only run you a dollar a slice.
Still want to see more (there is more)? NYC is home to some of the best museums in the world, from the Bronx Museum of the Arts, The Harbor Defense Museum and for my fashion lovers The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. There are at least 20 free museums and dozens more that offer free entry on designated days. Didnât I tell you, New York City is huge! I didnât mention the main tourist attractions in the city such as the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building, the 911 Memorial, the Hudson River, the Statue of Liberty and so many more. I hope you find the City that never sleeps as amazing as I do.

ANTI- BASIC: Badgalririâs dope tour ensemble
Early last month, Grammy award winning artist and fashion phenomenon Rihanna kicked off her ANTI World Tour in Jacksonville, FL and letâs just say the style icon did not disappoint. Besides her amazing vocals and synchronized choreography, letâs get into her dope costumes shall we? Of course, each piece was custom-made considering Badgalririâs creativity and originality. Each outfit served more than just fashion, it gave ANTI-BASIC hunny. Entering the stage, the star wore a white elongated oversized coat designed by Craig Green. But we all know this bajan beauty doesnât like to cover up for too long, ditching her coat she revealed a sliver bodysuit made by none other than her favorite designer Adam Selman. Despite its loose-fitting silhouette, Rih still managed to serve with her amazing Giuseppe Zanotti thigh-high boots. Not only does this the cream colored boot fit like a glove on her amazing legs (insured for 1 million dollars btw) , it also showed off her curves, but the belt attached to them accentuated her waist.
For her second look she strutted a super edgy, laced khaki colored bodysuit that blended into her shoes with a leather durag, also designed by Mr. Selman. Letâs just say, this tour was everything but ANTI-jumpsuits. In her third look, she sported another burgundy coat that covered a bodysuit that could make a blind man smile. This particular look paid homage to Tina Turner and Cher for sure! The Armani PrivĂŠ piece featured a sheer bodysuit with beaded fringe that shined bright like a diamond (as she would say). In her final change, she wore a loose fitting olive green suit from Y/Project completed with a LA Roxx dark olive bustier. Now we all know Rihanna is the queen of shade (sunglasses to be exact). Her Christian Dior shades retailed for a total of $1,200 (worth every single penny). Rihanna isnât a stranger to controversy, her rock star ensembles practically screamed SEX APPEAL. She serves more than vocals and dance moves on this tour so upcoming cities get ready. Youâve been warned!
To Bradshaw, with Love
Iâve always admired women who take control of their own lives, women who are dominant, women like Sex and the Cityâs Carrie Bradshaw. At eleven years old, I started a journal with cutouts of my favorite articles from magazines like Teen Vogue and Cosmo. I stumbled across a quote from Carrie that read âmaybe you have to let go of who you were to become who you will be.â I know how it sounds, I was pretty mature for an eleven-year-old but her quote exposed me to a vision Iâve always dreamed but suppressed; my life outside of Baltimore. For years, I wanted to be a fashion journalist, a style guru living in what I call my utopia but known to the world as New York City. I started watching season one of Sex and the City not long after I discovered Carrie. Just as every other girl in the world, I played the âWhich Sex and the City character are you?â charade, I definitely related to the other three ladies occasionally but unlike Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda, Carrieâs character hit home. She had the career of my dreams and not to mention the closet I would kill for. I became infatuated with everything she stood for, in actuality she was exactly who I wanted to be. A journalist, living in Manhattan with a closet that typically amounted to the price of a four year university (in my case, maybe a two year university).
From season one filmed two years after I was born in 96, through the shows final airing in 2004, Carrie was the wonder woman for single women of the New York world. Of course because of her unhealthy relationships and fiscal irresponsibleness she received backlash. But arenât we all a little fiscally irresponsible sometimes? Carrie only did what every woman (without bills) wants to do, she took her money and invested in shoes of course! Not just any shoes, she particularly preferred Manolo Blahnik. Ultimately, judging her character without knowledge of her past youâd assume she had it made. In the episode âa Vogue Ideaâ we learned that Carrie grew up without her father. Itâs scientifically proven that women are often attracted to men who are like their fathers which explains why Carrie dated older guys like âMr. Bigâ and âThe Russianâ Aleksandr Petrovsky. Her talent as a writer blended into her daily life perfectly. She was a relationship expert in a sense. Itâs no secret Carrie dated⌠a lot. I think of her as someone who is learning who she is through first hand experiences with her relationships. At first glance you wouldnât realize, her drunk nights in the city is a great distraction to the real issue. It wasnât until the sixth season when we met Jack Berger (the Narcissist) that I realized Carrie was me or every woman in a sense. Everyone has had a âBergerâ you know, the kind of guy who understands your corny sense of humor, sharp and charming, seems like a dream come true. Unfortunately, âprince charmingâ isnât always⌠well charming. The man who seemed adorably modest turned out to be unbearably neurotic. If Berger and Carrieâs relationship was a Facebook status it would be classified âItâs complicatedâ. Berger was a fictional writer whose career never exceeded his journal and pen because of his jealously. Although Carrie wasnât a world class author, she was a little more established as a journalist than Berger. In attempt to help Bergerâs career, she was dumped via post-it-note. I watched Carrie fight endlessly for her tarnished love with Berger, as if she was the problem! She opened my eyes to the world of relationships and love. She was not the problem, it was Berger who was not sure of himself that caused Carrie to question herself. As a women in the twenty first century, I personally have encountered one too many âBergerâsâ in my life. Was Carrie searching for herself through the men she dated? Was she the reason her relationships failed? Yes and no, Carrie loved Berger and even found herself through his neurotic ways. She discovered a love much better. Self-love. (You can imagine that at age eleven I discovered all of this)
In the long run, Carrie Bradshaw taught me that itâs ok to spoil myself (even If youâre broke). Itâs ok to explore the world. Itâs ok to love myself first âBeing single used to mean that nobody wanted you. Now it means youâre pretty sexy and youâre taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with.â Had Carrie never discovered self-love, she probably wouldâve never ended up with the guy who was there all along âMr. Bigâ. I know what youâre thinking âit took her some timeâ (six seasons to be exact) but if we rush our growth, are we really growing? So ask yourself this, âMaybe you have to let go of who you were to become who you will be.â
