Despite what a lot of exclusionists like to say, yes, your identity is and should be accepted and you are absolutely a part of our community. It is hard sometimes, but I've been where you are, when I was first discovering that I was ace, I identified as heteroromantic, and even though people like to be assholes online, just remember that our communities don't only exist in online spaces, and other aces and queer people are usually very accepting and supportive in real life. Just know YOU determine what is romantic. Like if your boyfriend thinks his actions are romantic that's fine. But if you don't seem them that way that is also fine. You aren't invalidating your identity by being in a relationship and you don't have to love someone to be in a relationship. Just have a clear and open conversation of what your relationship is so no ones feelings are getting hurt. That's a important part in ANY relationship, romantic or not. Also romance/romantic feelings are different. You can enjoy a typical romantic gesture like receiving flowers (romance) and not feel romantic feelings towards another person. I honestly don't know why there aren't and romantic positive aromantic appreciation posts. But know that aromanticism and asexuality aren't boxes they aren't defined and they don't have rules.
