You are unexplored, unusual and frighteningly beautiful.

Soft kisses in the driveway; memorizing every dip in your lips, the scent on the bare skin of your neck, like I would be able to identify you blind. You stop and switch the song to something slow, when I didn’t even notice there was music playing.

I exist. It’s sweet, so sweet, so slow. And light: you’d think it floated all by itself. It stirs.

Devilish in my innocence.

The only people I would care to be with now are artists and people who have suffered: those who know what beauty is, and those who know what sorrow is: nobody else interests me.

And in the end, we were all just humans.. drunk on the idea that love, only love, could heal our brokenness.

Why wasn’t friendship as good as a relationship? Why wasn’t it even better? It was two people who remained together, day after day, bound not by sex or physical attraction or money or children or property, but only by the shared agreement to keep going, the mutual dedication to a union that could never be codified.
