Boreas (Detail) is an oil painting in the Pre-Raphaelite style created in 1903 by John William Waterhouse. it shows a woman buffeted by the wind. Her eyes remain astonishingly still, fixed into the oncoming wind as though they belong to something the storm cannot touch. While every strand of hair and fold of fabric yields to Boreas' force, her gaze does not waver. There is neither resistance nor fear in her expression. only quiet resolve, as if she has accepted the wind long before it reached her.
