TETOCU Season Conflict/Fanfiction/Possible AU Idea (sad)
There’s a zombie outbreak in Piqua, and everyone except George, Harold, Heidi, Melvin, their friends, Krupp, and some random other kids fall victim.
The victims aren’t actual zombies; they just glow green with white eyes and act like zombies, transmitting the “infection” by scratching others.
The group of survivors have turned the school into a hideout and all agreed that all of them have a job in maintaining it:
-Melvin is working very hard on making an antedote/cure to this “infection” to make up for accidentally causing the whole mess to begin with, which the others are mad at him for and he feels extremely guilty about. It doesn’t have to do with keeping the building in prime condition, but he’s the only one smart enough to do that.
-George, Harold, the Misfarts, and sometimes Krupp are in charge of making the big decisions (Erica poses as the leader since she’s the second smartest out of everyone, which makes Krupp a little jealous since he’s so used to having all the authority).
-All the kids, including them (but not Melvin because he’s busy) have to always make sure that all the windows and doors leading outside are strongly secured so the zombies can’t get into the building.
-Krupp’s job, along with helping make decisions, is to watch the kids while they’re securing the windows and entrances to save them in case a zombie or two manage to stick their arms in or something.
-Heidi, since she’s so little, doesn’t have a job and always stays with Harold, who can’t help secure the windows and entrances because of his current job: protecting her (everyone else protects her too, so she has lots of bodyguards).
-Erica is also in charge of food rations, with Dressy as her helper.
-Jessica and the Sophies are the nurses, giving first aid to whoever needs it.
-Captain Underpants is summoned when there isn’t anything to do and they’re in need of entertainment to keep calm.
At some point, some zombies try to break in through a window.
Unfortunately, Harold was standing next to that window and he gets scratched.
Jessica wraps his arm up while Krupp fights off the zombies and helps fix the window.
No one thinks Harold’s scratch is a big deal, so they ignore it, but he notices later on that something isn’t right and that his arm is starting to look greener than usual.
Not wanting to frighten anybody, especially his sister, he keeps it secret.
It stays a secret until some of his friends notice that he’s been acting strange and his bandages are pulled off to show his arm, which is glowing green.
George is immediately upset that his best friend is infected and refuses to let him outside, even though the others know that it’s too dangerous to let him stay, even if he’s kept in a cage.
What makes George even more upset is that Harold agrees with them.
Heidi is taking a nap at the time this is happening so she has no idea what’s happening to her brother.
No one, not even Krupp, can hold back tears as they prepare to let Harold go. As the boards and baracades are being taken off the front entrance and the coast is being checked to make sure it’s clear, Harold tells everyone that he’ll miss them and thanks them for being awesome friends.
It was hard for even the principal to hold back his emotions as the preparations for the send-off commenced. Everyone in the group was in attendance, including Melvin, who was as upset as everyone else was.
While the front entrance was being freed from its baracades, Harold turned to his friends with a smile on his tear-soaked face.
“You guys are the greatest friends I could’ve ever asked for! Thank you for having fun with me while it lasted!” he said, getting smiles in return. “Please don’t be sad after I go out. I want you to smile and be happy.” he added. He then looked at Melvin. “Melvin, I know everyone else is probably still mad at you, but I want you to know that I forgive you.”
“Y-You do?” the nerd asked in shock. “Yeah. I’m more than confident that you can find a cure for this and bring everyone back.” Harold answered. Next he turned to Krupp. “M-Mr. Krupp, you can be a big jerk sometimes, but honestly...” he paused for a few seconds before continuing. “...I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Krupp’s heart ripped in two. “You know, Harold...neither would I.” he responded, wiping away tears and trying to smile but failing.
Finally the entrance was cleared, and while other kids stood ready to put it all back, Bo and Erica stood at the doors, ready to pull them open.
“You ready, Harold?” Erica asked.
“Almost.” he answered. Then he walked over to George. “George, before I leave, I need you to promise me something.”
“Anything, buddy.” George responded. He felt like he could burst at any moment.
“P-Promise me that-...” Harold started, almost unable to finish. “...you’ll take care of Heidi for me.”
There was a pause before George answered.
“I promise.” he said. Harold smiled at him again and they did their secret handshake one last time before he turned around.
“Ok, I’m ready.” he said, clenching his fists. His expression looked angry, but it wasn’t that. He was trying to be brave.
“Ok, on three.” Erica commanded. “One...”
Harold got on his knees like he was about to run a race.
George plugged his ears and shut his eyes tight.
Erica and Bo pulled open the doors and Harold immediately raced out as fast as he could. He wanted to scream, but he couldn’t; for it would attract the zombies to the front entrance, putting everyone at risk. After the doors slammed shut behind him, the other kids nailed the boards back up and shoved the heavy stuff back to where it was before.
Then they all broke down in sobs.
Outside, Harold ran to the nearest, safest place: bushes in the front yard of a house a little ways down the street. His scratched arm was fully green; now his other arm and his legs were beginning to turn. He saw in the reflection of the window before he dove down to hide that half of his face was green as well.
He was still sobbing. Thoughts of the people he’d just left behind plagued his mind. He couldn’t contain it any longer.
It was there that he screamed.
There’s most likely a happy ending. Melvin finds the cure, all the zombies are turned back to normal, the survivors reunite with their friends and family.
