I don't have preferred pronouns. I have pronouns. Using the right pronouns (if you know them) is mandatory. (Of course, you can make a mistake. It happens. Then when someone corrects you, you thank them and move on.) Using the right pronouns is mandatory. That also means using the right pronouns for people you don't like. Misgendering as a punishment is transphobic as hell. It means that to you gendering someone correctly is a privilige, something that can be taken away if people aren't good enough. However, self-identification is an immutable human right. And that means it's something no one can take away from you. No matter what you do. That includes being transphobic. I've seen people (mostly cis) advocate for misgendering those who misgender us. Don't. When we say that you shouldn't misgender people, we mean all people. All.
