I love these conversations in the book, and while I was working on this, I realized that the book’s title hints at a theme running throughout the book. It’s about the effect the network of people Murderbot has met and formed relationships with and how Murderbot has affected them. I love how the book brings them together - Murderbot saving them - and then they work together to save it.

One of the things that makes drawing fanart for the Murderbot Diaries interesting, is what Murderbot doesn’t say. It doesn’t describe a lot of things and it leaves lots of space to imagine. In this case, I’d been thinking about Bharadwaj’s experience during these interviews. I imagine that she’s sad and frustrated, hearing about the painful & unjust experiences someone she loves is sharing with her. I also believe she understands that Murderbot is sensitive to her experience and to being perceived. She would want to keep her emotions a bit masked, wanting to make Murderbot more comfortable.
