Maeve Bailey:

NOW here’s an OC I can say stuff about! And, what do you know, I have some drawings of her, too!

(P.S. If you can’t quite tell what’s happening in an image with a certain design of mine, check the image description! A lot of these are images on my phone and are cropped weirdly to avoid spoilers, so if the image is too fuzzy for you, or you don’t really understand what’s going on with a design, the description should have some more detail.)

Maeve is the first introduced true antagonist of And Then It Dawned On Him, which is a story set in a fantasy version of medieval Ireland. Maeve is meant to directly contrast the main character, Yazmin: Yazmin is an amateur knight, Maeve is a seasoned mercenary; Yazmin is fast and light in her attacks, Maeve is slower but stronger; Yazmin is noble and just, Maeve is cruel and selfish.

But Maeve just operates in what she thinks the way of the world is. It’s a dog eat dog sort of world, and she’s a wolf. Every opponent she faces she crushes until they’re humiliated, because she doesn’t want to leave any chance that her foes could strike her back.

Maeve belongs to a particular group of mercenaries, headed by her adoptive father, Peter Bailey, and she is joined by a knight named Aesthe Coiléan. Their relationship is rocky at its best and violent at its worst, but Maeve at least trusts Peter with her life, seeing as he saved it when they first met.

Captain Erwyn Roberts:

OHOHO. ERWYN MY LOVE.

Erwyn is actually a sona of mine! Well, she’s bordering on being an OC at this point, but she’s very much a representation of me. Despite looking and acting almost nothing like me.

Ahem. Erwyn is from Deep Sea Idiots, which is a collaborative story between me and my friend set in a fantasy pirate era. My contribution to this story has been most of the worldbuilding, along with most of the human cast of the story.

Captain Roberts is captain of the most fearsome pirate crew to ever terrorize the seas. He’s known for his ruthless targeting of Navy ships, his swift and bloody pillaging, and his daringness to sail directly through deadly siren waters. It’s said that the only survivors of encounters with the Roberts crew are ones that he chooses to let go, to let his infamy spread among the people. Yet, despite the fear that the mere name of Captain Roberts spreads among sailors, nobody actually knows what he looks like…

…which is quite convenient for Erwyn Roberts, because that means she can pass herself and her crew off as a merchant crew and enjoy the luxuries of not being a wanted criminal quite easily. To others, Erwyn “Reynolds” is a bumbling, friendly captain in a small trade company. Thanks to Erwyn’s careful trickery, no one besides his crew knows who he really is.

That’s not getting into the actual plot of DSI, where Erwyn falls in love after a chance encounter with a siren and then Things happen, but that’s a basic overview of the character. I just glazed him really hard but really I can’t emphasize how stupid Erwyn is. He checks all the necessary boxes of being a himbo (pure of heart despite the many murders, dumb of ass, big of chest). I love her dearly.

Azrael:

Oh, goodness. What a character to have to describe.

Azrael belongs to the story Demigod Dumbasses, but instead of being a character in the modern era, where the story is set, he’s a key figure in the backstory.

You see, when gods were prevalent, there was a Pantheon of five that took up most of the duties governing mortals and the planet. Any duties that were outside the domain of the main five gods were given to sub-deities, and Azrael happened to be one of them. Skiá is the goddess of the underworld who presides over deceased mortals, but Azrael was the god of death and the one who actually performed the reaping and delivering of souls to her. Azrael is a dutiful and efficient god, and never once complained in his duties, even as death counts started to rise as demigods warred with each other, causing mass destruction and death in their wake.

Then, one day, the weakest of the Pantheon approached him. Lux, one of his mothers, spoke with Azrael, and told him of her concerns with the overabundance of demigods and their violence. With that, Azrael was convinced, and he created a plague, and slaughtered almost every demigod that crossed his path. Meanwhile, Lux confronted the rest of the Pantheon…

…and that was the last Azrael ever saw of the entire Pantheon. He and other sub-deities still operate, but without the guidance of the Pantheon, they begin to die out. Yet Azrael, steadfast and ever-relevant, remains.

Ora:

Gosh I really have no drawings of these characters. My most recent drawing is at least a year old.

Ora is the protagonist of Ora and the Rift in Time, which is a concept for a game that I came up with years ago. The game’s story was… to put it lightly, very inspired by Super Paper Mario, and to this day I am still trying to rework it to give it its own original identity, and I’ve been struggling with that.

Ora themself though, is your typical silent protagonist. They can communicate through sign language (if the player of this theoretical game chooses to have Ora learn), but otherwise they are selectively mute.

Although they are very young, Ora still takes it upon themself to save the world when it is threatened by Lord and Lady of the land after they open up a time rift. They take up their grandfather’s sword, journey out of their village, and team up with a helpful butterfly spirit! Time rifts are a tricky thing to deal with, though, so Ora may have to save the world more than once….

Vexx:

I felt so bad about not having any recent or good-looking art of her that I quickly doodled her despite my recent traditional art slump. Here she is!

Vexx is from Show Time, which is set post-apocalyptic world, inspired by the games Little Nightmares 2 and Stray. Human structures remain, but now Vixens (Vexx’s species) and Televors (TV-Heads) try to make sense of the world that humans have left behind.

Unfortunately, one of the few things that survived the collapse of human society is the churning machine of capitalism. Vexx works in a factory belonging to the mega-corporation of BiCorp, and one day after a workplace accident that almost injures her, she confronts her boss, the TV-Head Dislan. Things get heated, she pounces, and almost bashes his screen in.

What she learns from damaging the wires on the top of his head is that all of the Televors are being brainwashed by BiCorp into doing their dirty work. It’s now up to Vexx and Dislan to sneak their way to the BiCorp headquarters and find out just what the shady CEO is planning.

Amanda Summers:

…unfortunately, I can’t show you her design, since it’s a spoiler. So sorry! :)

What I can tell you is that she similarly belongs to Show Time, and she is the shady CEO that Vexx and Dislan are after! She goes by CEO for most of the story, with her actual name being revealed much later… it’s a whole thing, and I’m not exactly able to explain why without traversing into spoiler territory.

But she serves as the first main antagonist of the story… but the role she occupies is very much a work in progress. However, I imagine her personality is strikingly similar to Queen from Deltarune, so… she’s certainly an interesting character.

Sketch (Omori):

Ah! You’ve chosen another one of my sonas. While I have a number of self-inserts that go by Doodle like I do, a couple of them go by Sketch. Usually those are for self-inserts of the romantic variety.

The Omori version of Sketch isn’t super developed (since I often have trouble developing character arcs for fictional versions of myself), but that’s okay since I made her just because I wanted to kiss Captain Spaceboy.

Dare I say that Omori!Sketch falls into the substanceless Mary Sue self-insert archetype…? Oh, well. Maybe I’ll figure out something more to her eventually, since she’s lacking in a story. If you ignore the 30+ page document I’ve made of fanfiction of Sketch and Space Boyfriend becoming a couple that I never completed and then LOST because I saved it on a different website and then forgot my password. Whatever, man.

And, lastly….

Starionette

Starri is a character that similarly lacks story events, but I’ve found plenty of utility for her in roleplays! She’s inspired by various vocaloids (Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto particularly, with Yi Xi serving as a voice claim for her), and CG5’s Project U Move.

She claims to be a virtual idol in a CRT TV. She’s outgoing and friendly to everyone she meets, and assumes that everyone she comes across is a fan of hers (despite, of course, nobody knowing who she is). Starionette is very insistent on performing concerts for all of her fans, since she just has so much love for them all! And often, all those who see her concerts end up becoming a helpful part of her crew…. inside the TV…. how spooky!

I’ve been doing an ongoing roleplay with a few friends utilizing Starionette for at least a year now, and her crew consists of a Tech Lead (another OC of mine), a House Manager (me), a Lighting Lead (another OC of mine), a Stage Manager (my friend), a Security Guard (a different friend’s OC), and a Set Designer (another friend’s OC). So why not stop by and watch her perform…? I’m sure she can find a job for you… :)

Again, thank you for asking about my OCs. I hope I described them in a way that satisfied your curiosities, but left you wanting to know more, hehe…

7- Neat or messy handwriting?

It depends on which of the Concepts Ellipse is most embodying at the moment. Change has straight, but somewhat messy handwriting, and it’s somewhat similar to mine. Eternity (orange text because tumblr doesn’t have yellow :/) has looping, grandiose cursive. And Pain has shaky hands, so Her writing would be very messy.

Not that God needs to write, of course.

10- Do they keep their hands occupied a lot? If so, what do they do?

Oh, Doc is always fidgeting with something. A lot of times, her hands are empty, so she holds her hands together, fidgets with her fingers, holds them out like raptor arms, or fidgets with their clothes, hair, or goggles, or gloves (which, unfortunately, isn’t very lab safe!). He often fidgets with whatever he’s holding, too— he likes to wiggle pencils between his fingers, click pens incessantly, tap surfaces of clipboards, etc. Doc is very restless, which is quite characteristic of a DoodlePersona.

Okay, I know you were joking about me answering all of the food questions with Doc.

But I don’t think you realize just how much of an insane motherfucker I am.

11- What is their favorite/least favorite food?

Caleb Scratch has almost identical food preferences to me, even though she doesn’t eat. She’s especially fond of sweets, and prefers chocolate to other things. She likes a lot of strawberry-flavored things, too.

It doesn’t like a lot of pickled things, and avoids most meats; it’ll only tolerate poultry, and the occasional fish as a part of sushi.

12- Are they a picky eater?

Well… Doc is only a voluntary eater, since it doesn’t need to eat to survive. While he’s very aware of the foods that he doesn’t like, he’s quite open to trying new things, especially if it’s offered to him by his favorite people in the world. Wiiiiink.

13- Any food they avoid for other reasons other than taste?

I don’t think I need to reiterate that Caleb generally avoids all food because they don’t need it. Otherwise, no, the only foods that Doc wouldn’t touch are the ones they don’t like the taste of.

14- How are their table manners?

They’re not exactly neat. Doc doesn’t know any etiquette, and can be a messy eater just because they’re not used to eating. He’s very good at getting food on his face or on his clothes or in his hair, somehow. She’s very self-conscious about this, too.

15- Would they rather eat too much or too little?

Approaching this from the hypothetical of Doc eating regularly— Doc is most definitely the type to eat too little. It regularly gets absorbed in its work to such a decree that it completely neglects its own health, which is why it retconned away its need to eat in the first place. If they did still need to eat, they’d probably run off of a few grams of some junk they grabbed and would suffer later for it.

16- Do they prefer to eat alone or with company?

Despite being self-conscious about eating, Caleb would love to eat with its favorite person in the world more often. Because that means it’s a date, right…? He might have mixed feelings about food, but he definitely recognizes that eating with someone means that they can spend great quality time together!

17- Are they good at cooking?

4- Do they have an accent or dialect?

This is something I’ve considered a lot, and I haven’t really come to an answer to. I don’t easily hear or imagine what character voices sound like in my head, and that’s even harder with accents. I’ve considered Erwyn having a Welsh accent, but I’m not super sure what that would sound like, how that would affect her speech, what dialect she’d have specifically, etc.

I hate to leave this last question on a noncommittal shrug, soooooo let me link you my current headcanon voice for Erwyn. I think he sounds like Fiyero from the original Broadway Cast for Wicked, and As Long As Your Mine is a song that I think fits Erwyn’s story very well :)
