Oliver handed her back reluctantly, if only because he wanted nothing more than to spend as much time as possible with Lian. âItâs fine, I mean, if thereâs anywhere she can shriek and make a mess, itâs here,â he said, gesturing vaguely. The penthouse had felt like a ghost town since Oliver got back. It wasnât the same without Dinah. âYeah, yeah, I think heâs just down in Coast City for a couple of days to see his mom,â he said, gesturing vaguely. âSomething along those lines. Heâs an adult, Iâm sure heâs taking care of himself.â He leaned against the doorway, his hand coming up to run over his hair so he could at least try to flatten it some more against his scalp. âIf you want me to take care of her, I will, but Iâm not going to stand in the doorway and fight more about the same old stuff. You either want me to do it or you donât, so just tell me, Roy.âÂ
Roy kept Lian close, staring at Oliver for a moment before glancing around. He had to go, he was scrapping at all the hours he could get now that he was the only one in the house with a job. âLee,â Roy set her down on her feet, kneeling down to her level to honestly talk to her, âYou need to be on your best behavior, okay? Ollieâs doing us a very nice favor and if you want to be welcomed back, you need to be very, very good.â Roy spoke gently to her. Lian nodded, giving Roy a pinky promise before turning back to Oliver. âEither Jay or I will be here to pick her up.... thanks, man.â
