( richard madden, cismale, he/him ) HARK! I believe the heralds are announcing the arrival of JON ARRYN, the 28 year old, LORD of THE EYRIE. They are known to hold loyalty towards THE CROWN/THEIR HOUSE and little birds sing of them being ADROIT & DUTIFUL. When one dreams of them, images of “falcon that bravely takes flight, clenched fists, a level of perfection you never quite achieve, a disappointed look that crushes you” comes to mind. However their ARROGANT and RESENTFUL nature can make for difficult times. Time will only tell what their true intentions are. { cassie, 30, she/her, gmt }

firstborn son of the secondborn son, it seemed like jon would never be good enough for his father. he was a sickly child and even when he recovered, far from a great fighter. he had trouble reading and would run off on his lessons to join the servants in picking up foodstuffs from the valley bellow the castle. it was hard to be anyone special or impressive, especially with dragonrider cousins and a younger sibling who jon believed their father favoured.
jon is incredibly willful and stubborn, however. he would work twice as hard if he had to, to achieve results his father may have deemed mediocre, but he would achieve them nonetheless and giving up, sulking or complaining were simply not options.
jon grew to be a skilled fighter and would put more effort into his studies, he spent countless hours reading history, of kingdoms, including the vale which he barely remembered.
he's very involved with the household. they may serve the arryns, but to jon, they're also friends and loved ones, like the part of the family if you will.
he loves his family and is very loyal to them. his relationship with his father is complicated. he'd once told jon he was so harsh on him so he could become stronger, as this is a harsh world, but the wall between them can't quite be torn down. nowadays, it is mostly distance that the arryn feels.
jon mostly resides in the vale and doesn't enjoy travelling.
he's hard working, resilient and generous but can be very insecure though he doesn't like to show it. feels like he has to overcompensate and overgive for that reason.
can be wary of strangers and a little hard to befriend, mistrustul to some extent. but once someone earns his trust, jon would do anything or them.
wanted connections:
best friends, if they're not from the vale they met while travelling and kept in touch and often visited each other.
the bad influence, someone who thinks jon is too uptight, needs to loosen up and make some bad decisions.
enemies, people he does not like because they stand for everything his hates and go against his moral code.
a betrothal that was broken off, or was in the talks of being arranged but never happened for reasons.
jousting bestie, they mostly meet up at tourneys and have a friendly competition going on and perhaps one too many drinks.

In spite of the political upheaval, Ellyn had been glad of the opportunity for travel that the stay in Dorne had offered her. She had not journeyed much beyond the borders of the Westerlands, the only exception being the capital itself —where she had found the constraints of courtly etiquette and two-faced manoeuvring so stifling that she would sooner have chosen the salt-laden air of the western coast. Her palate reflected her native port city; she had helped herself to buttered crab and charred fish, and on a whim, a few segments of blood orange and a slice of honey cake. Her nose had wrinkled at the assortment of cheeses, but she breathed a satisfied sigh at her curious medley of choices before settling beside another noble.
In truth, she had simply amused herself by observing others, with murmurs and wary glances aplenty, while lifting forkfuls of breakfast to her mouth. Another noble had spoken, but Ellyn seized the opportunity regardless.
"I asked if you've a personal debt to settle with those grape leaves on your plate. Surely they ought to be on the verge of surrender by now." She gave his plate a pointed look before snickering softly. "It was nothing of consequence, Lord Arryn. I was merely musing on my lessons not to play with my food. I once had a septa who reminded me incessantly that I was born to be a lady, not a cat tormenting a mouse."
jon raised an eyebrow, perhaps professing what was said to him before his lips formed an amused smile. if anything, this interaction had managed to distract him enough from the dark, unpleasant thoughts. "once again, my lady.. accept my apologies if i have caused you any disturbance." he says out of courtesy as is expected and puts aside the fork as an appetite still won't find him, no matter how appetizing the food might look. "i see. well, my master at arms taught how to stab.. though i suppose this is the wrong occasion for it." the arryn jests.
She’s gathered a plate of fruit for breakfast, but it’s been several minutes since she’s touched it at all. Myriamme is contemplating the previous night’s events, and even more so if she should retire to her chambers to eat in peace when she notices him. Jon Arryn, late to breakfast just like a handful of other wedding guests. Myriamme observes the Arryn silently, keeping her gaze and head mostly downcast so no one can accuse her of staring.
A curiosity prickles in her chest, as she’s noticed the Lord one or two times throughout the celebrations. An old memory surfaces again, from years past when she visited the Vale as a child. The journey had been arduous even by sea, and singular, but Myriamme remembers him. She has to muster the courage to stand with her plate and approach him, wondering while she closes space between them, if he’ll remember her too.
“Good morning, my lord.” She greets softly, not wanting to catch him by surprise. “Well, perhaps not good, given all that’s happened…but I’m glad to see Sunspear is still functioning as it should with so many guests in attendance.” Myriamme gulps, realizing she’s rambling, and as she sits across from Jon she blinks back at him as his attention seems to come forward for the first time.
She hopes she’s not blushing, because she certainly feels embarrassed enough, “It wasn’t important. I see you have just as much of an appetite as me,” Myriamme motions between their lightly picked plates. “You did not sleep well?” She was sure many could relate, herself included.
there is something familiar in the stranger's eyes and it does not take long for jon to realize that they were not as much of a stranger after all. it had been some time ago, but the arryn remembered house manderly's visit to the vale, ever so involved with anything involving it. "lady myriamme!" he exclaimed. "i'm jon arryn, lord ronnel's nephew. i do not know if you recall, but we met during your family's visit to the eyrie. i remember i showed you the mountain horses." his lips tug upwards into a smile as the pleasant memories come flooding in, his demeanor lightening up as he's thinking of home. "i'm afraid sleep did not find me easily last night, but i imagine that would be the case for most after.. all that's happened." dorne was not safe, he's thought as much as soon as he got into the carriage and now, he was being proven right constantly.
his room was bathed in the sunlight by the time luceryn finally left his chambers. most of sunspear’s guests had already broken their fasts and the dining hall was largely empty. tension thickened the air, and it was a relief when luceryn spotted a familiar head of dark curls. he slid into the seat beside his cousin, plate laden with steaming rolls and fruit. on a separate dish, a red sauce spotted with two poached eggs and an abundance of smoked spices. he learned that it tasted best when paired with the honied rolls several days earlier, and since then it had become a staple of his morning meal. glancing at the stabbing motion of jon’s fork, luc nudged his plate to the side to offer him a roll. when there was no response, he turned to him, only then noticing the crinkle of his brow. “it’s alright. i had only asked if you preferred bread instead?” luc nodded toward the green leaves on his plate. “did you not sleep well, cousin?”
jon's features softened up at the sight of his cousin, extending a hand to take the offered bread. "i, uh, have been attempting to try more of the local cuisine. we are not really known for our variety of foods in the vale." the arryn noted, for he was not particularly well traveled, now a change of his rigid nature. "i have been enjoying myself, though i have learned my lesson with the dragon peppers. i imagine that's what it would feel like if you were to have your dragon set me on fire." laughter escapes his lips after the jest and jon finally takes some time to actually get a few bites in. "i did not.. but at least i used the time to write to my father, tell him of all that's.. happened." jon, as every valeman was appalled at what the troupe had done, followed by the horrifying sight and the attack itself. he'd worried for luc and aemma, as well. "how are you faring?"
status: open to everyone
when: a day or two after the royal wedding
his fork played around with the stuffed grape leaves, eyebrows furrowed in deep in concern, jon was lost in his thoughts. it was quite late into the morrow and he had only now gotten out of bed and found the desire for breakfast after everything he had witnessed. the atmosphere was uneasy around sunspear, and how could it not be? the arryn could not shake off the feeling that the worst was yet to come.. had not what happened been just a warning? so, whoever did this, just how far were they willing to go? he had not gotten much sleep the previous nights and when a voice spoke at first sounded much further away in the distance. only it got clearer and louder, did he realize someone was next to him, speaking. "what?" a look of utter confusion paints his features, before truly coming back to being present. "my apologies, i was quite lost in my thoughts. i did not mean to pay no mind to your words.. which i'm also hoping you will repeat." the arryn hopes his words are received in a lighthearted manner. the gods knew there was too much tension around already.
